strange feelings re Daisy
Aug 2, 2000

Platforms: Steam(Windows, Mac or Linux). An iOS port may upcoming.
Available: Now

Death Road to Canada alternates between two modes: a top down action mode where you battle zombies and scavenge for loot, and a choose your own adventure mode while you're on the road. The game is often likened to Oregon Trail, but that is severely underselling it. People mostly die of dysentery or drown in Oregon Trail. This game gets much weirder and entertaining than that.

Game play basics: your 3 main resources are fuel, food, and medical supplies. Fuel and food are used every day while driving. Medical supplies are only needed to heal. You can find all of these resources, plus weapons, while you're on scavenging runs. You will probably run out of fuel at some point, but don't worry too much about it. Inevitably after some walking you will find a junkyard where you can find a new car. Also, don't freak out if you start losing characters. In this game it's a frequent occurrence, but you will generally be able to find new recruits to take their place. If you want to enjoy this game I highly recommend that you don't try to min-max or spoil yourself on wikis. Most of my joy playing comes through discovering the strange things that can happen.
