Jay Inslee wants to run for president. I don't think he'll get much traction, his main platform will be fighting climate change.

I had done most of my shopping earlier on wednesday, but I hit the stores last night for some last minute things for my father. Winco was a massacre. Had to hop around 3 different safeways just to find ground beef. Sodomy Hussein's post is spot on for every store I visited. Only the last safeway I hit had some bread and beef, and only because they received a shipment two hours before it closed.

I think this is the first time I've ever had to knock down icicles from our gutters. I've never seen 'em grow more than a few inches but I just knocked down a bunch that were nearly two feet long.

At first I was like it sure is cop focused and they like this one homeless guy who's deliberately an rear end in a top hat, but it is an hour long maybe the other side of the argument is coming soon? But then came the demonstration against Kshama and I was like ohhhh nooooo.

This has been a notable thunderstorm given how frequently the lightning was going off. I was seeing a bolt like every 5 seconds. Granted mostly cloud to cloud but drat what a light show! And then someone in my neighborhood though it would be a good idea to have a fireworks show at the same time. gently caress them for ruining it and also putting themselves in danger.

The ESD is asking those who became eligible via the CARES act to wait until after April 18th, because that's when their systems will be updated. I don't think that means you can't apply now but like the rest of us already on unemployment before the CARES act was passed, you're going to be waiting until after the 18th anyway. I'm not seeing anything related to the 28th so I think that's some republican fuckery going on. The 13 weeks where you get $600 a month are available to you through December 26th, so if you become unemployed anytime before then, you can start drawing from that. I'm impressed Seattle is pulling off basically OWS 2.0, but I suspect they might be abused again by overburdened homeless shelters and food banks. While the previous OWS were able to help they went into overdrive trying to keep people sheltered and fed, cutting into their organizational time.

Inslee is going to approach this one month at a time because he wants this free ride to end as badly as the rest of the other cold, calculating "balance the budget" dems. Thankfully, our state's high unemployment rate kicked in a law that allows extended benefits for an extra 20 weeks to the unemployed. I should qualify for that soon, but they aren't saying if that includes the extra 600 per week we've been getting from the PEUC.

We were barely acknowledged for our part in OWS. When I think of what a washington state having a strong presence in national political discussion would look like, I think of something like how msnbc has been constantly sucking Cuomo's dick throughout the covid pandemic just because he stood up to president cheeto. Could you ever imagine a theoretical Governor Sawant getting that kind of attention? Hell, imagine Inslee getting that kind of attention. It probably doesn't matter though. If we can do more lefty stuff in our state, I think we'll be fine without national recognition.

Jay Inslee being a sociopath would actually give him a personality. In reality, he's trying to ride the line between capitalists and socialists, and so far he's done... ok, I guess? But he could be better. Like at this point you could argue the president has been pushed more to the left than Inslee has. If we actually had a viable leftist challenger, I'd vote for them just to see how far we can push Inslee before he breaks or gives in.

One of my favorite youtube channels, Sampson Boat Co., is being bullied by Clallam County over his boat restoration project. It sounds like a single neighbor has been trying to gently caress with his project for the past 3 years and finally got the county to nail him on a creative interpretation of what his business actually is. The county is being weirdly aggressive as well, the board of community development told him straight-up his request for a permit won't be approved by the committee, despite having met all the legal requirements. He really should've gotten a lawyer a lot sooner but he has one now.
