I'd rather (and did several times) build my own. Let's face it, you're probably going to swap out a ton of parts to make it the way you want any way. Might as well get it right the first time.

It won't fix legitimate recall, grenading gearboxes but should prolong the life of your slushbox after that

I took the ASE tests while I was in school. Then I got picked up for BMW's technical training school, where ASE meant gently caress all. I don't remember what I paid then, but now it costs over $400 to take all 9 of the basic tests. Recertification is every five years, and it caps at $153.

It's not nearly as bad as the CompTIA/DoD continuing education scam.
