I'm recounting the dumb poo poo that I did in that time and good lord man. 1) Left a bar in North Chicago wandering back with someone else and a very nice police officer escorted us back to base without consequence. 2) Got on the wrong train out of TSC and ended up Kenosha with a GM buddy of mine. With no plan, walked into a dive bar, endeared ourself to the local populace and never paid for a drink again. 3) Didn't realize last call in Chicago was 4AM. 4) Carried a dude twice my size back from a Super Bowl Party at a Steelers (Seahawks) bar in Wrigleyville. Poured him into the cab, talked my way through the gate guard. There are another 10 things easily. I finished all of the CBT stuff 2 months early, had second pick of orders and then first pick out of C-School. My second Good Conduct Award is one of my cherished possessions.

For the Gaza port, the Army's 7th Transportation Brigade will send 2 LSVs and 3 LCUs, which will take 30 days to get there, with a MARAD LMSR to do all the really heavy lifting. A lot of this is really dumb since they've been trying to get rid of their vessels and this capability, and the expeditionary support docks are laid up due to phase down with that initiative.

I've become the victim of a master-level troll. The classic "left my NIPR account unattended" e-mail, but with a genius twist. The recipient of the email is a GM1 that was on the Champlain with me for a deployment and decommissioning. Yes, as an officer, if you are Detached For Cause that is the death of your career. Even if it's overturned, you then have to go through the effort of getting the paperwork removed from your record. The Navy's removed several COs in the last few months. I just saw that a SEAL CO was relieved, a Commodore was relieved a few months back, then you had the Cruiser CO. That's just three off the top of my head. Never mind the Submarine COs we've been discussing in the tread.

But seriously, I could not have gotten through power school as a young, alcoholic dipshit so I have some respect for all you science hippies that did. That said, it did suck to hear repeatedly how much dumber us coners were. I did feel bad watching you guys hook up shore power while we were going on liberty. So being dumb has it's advantages. One of my best friends on Augusta was a nuke that had the worst military bearing I've ever seen. He was a great guy. He used to write poo poo on the TP rolls in middle level head, all negative about nukes, but full of misspellings. It was hilarious.
