Are there any decent off the market helmet straps? The standard issue ones are terrible and constantly get loose and are a pain in the rear end to adjust. An NCO from another unit was telling me about some kind of neck strap for helmets that pulls backwards so your NODs don't pull it forward but I can't remember what they were called or who made them.

You get this from RFI:

I'm getting ready to put in a compassionate reassignment to go back to Hawaii due to my meth head sister in law having all her kids taken away by CWS last year and about to get her parental rights terminated because she keeps going back to jail. They're about to be placed permanently with a family so my wife and I are trying to go back and take custody of them. Watch me end up in Korea or something.

Anyone ever done one or worked in the compassionate reassignment part of HRC? I talked to my branch manager and he had no information for me besides "push it up your chain of command".

My soldier's grandmother/adoptive mother just got out of surgery today and was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I told my PSG about this on Sunday to be ready for a Red Cross message and a leave form. He didn't respond to my voicemail or txt message. Reminded him about the surgery today and just got a "So?"

So he got the word that she has terminal cancer, has weeks to a few months to live, and we get the Red Cross pushed out, I did a leave form for emergency leave, and all the TRIPs bullshit. Hand it over to him and he throws out the leave form. Because she's his grandmother and not his mother, it's not emergency leave.... Even if she did raise him. I had to explain to him that she adopted him at birth and I was told I had to bring in adoption paperwork to prove it. So now I got my Soldier who should have been on his way home already with his wife and kids searching for adoption papers or whatever because this platoon sergeant and PL was too pussy poo poo to tell the 1SG and the CO the situation. Now the PSG is holding onto the leave form for my soldier because he doesn't want him signing out at midnight and driving home because it's too dangerous and has to start his leave tomorrow morning at 0600....

Update on my soldier.

His grandmother/adoptive mother passed away. He gave the DNR order when she went under and the next day she passed. Gave the update to my PSG and his response was "Good! Now he can make it to NTC! Like, not good that she died, but good that we don't have to see if we have to give him an extension or anything!" Now we're going to NTC in April, but as soon as we come back my BDE is going Mech and all us 11B are PCS'ing or being moved to another unit within 3ID. (I'm in 2BCT the light BDE which is going Mech this summer. Everyone is coming down on orders that has 2 years or more and we were told it's all cav scouts and abrams. Currently my BN is attached to 1st BCT)

I already talked to my Soldier's wife about calling her congressman cause I'm tired of that POS. Especially since I'm suppose to give $25 for some assclown I don't even like's plaque when he didn't want to give 1 to 2 dollars for flowers for my soldier's mom's funeral.

Fun Army story for today!

An E6 in my company is working on his truck. Doesn't get it running in time so he calls his E4 who gives him a ride home. They stop by the VFW and have a couple of beers before going back to the E6's house for dinner. Go back for dinner and then head back out to the VFW in the E6's BRAND NEW CAMARO ZR1!!! (How does he afford this with an unemployed wife and two kids? I have no loving clue! Well, actually she is employed. She does MLM. But we were having a conversation about how hard it was adjusting to a lower household income after his wife got out of the military and they no longer get dual BAH/two paychecks) Neither dudes remember too much after that.

But the E4 was driving that E6's Camaro, both were black out drunk, and the cops clocked them going 160MPH. 105 mph when they caught up to them, and then they plowed into some random girl's car. Totalled her car, totalled the Camaro completely. E4 made the SIR and E6's name was taken off by BDE so it doesn't look worst for the BN. But now the BDE Commander is taking care of him personally.

We're all taking bets at the company on what happens to him. My friend has his bet on demotion, discharge, and going homeless due to a 70k loan on a car he no longer has. I have my money on a slap on the wrist and being PSG at another unit here.

We just posted a few gun trucks, took off our kits, ran up the mountain and rolled everything down. Then hook it onto a humvee/ANP pick up and drag it the 1-2 miles back to our COP. Of course, doing it this way about 50% of our resupply was always destroyed or there was a trail of water bottles.

Just give me a super generalized hypothetical situation if option 1 and 2 aren't good enough.

Also, are we talking MPI (military police investigator) or CID (criminal investigative division)? Any chucklehead can be an MPI and wear a bad suit for a few months (usually a junior NCO).

Option 1: If one of your Soldiers is being investigated/talked to/etc, send his/her rear end over to the JAG office. All they gotta do is sign in and wait for a lawyer to talk with them. If there's some fuckery going on that might fix it.

Option 2: I don't know your rank, but if you aren't feeling like doing this yourself use your commander's open door policy to have him do it, go talk to the commander of the MP station on post. The MP station will have a commander (CPT usually) and a 1SG you can talk too (or equivilant).

Soldier got a call from a civilian LT from MPI. He was told there's a case involving counterfeit money that his wife used at the commissary. He needs to meet the manager and pay up the money owed or he'll face consequences.

He tells me and I think it's a scam. Go to the MP station and no poo poo he works there and used his government cell phone. Now it's a closed case, the LT just wanted more info, nothing bad will happen and he should meet the manager and pay what's owed cause it's the right thing to do. But he's not telling us he has to.

I took over a platoon of 50 dudes who are PCS'ing cause we're switching from an infantry bn to an armor last Monday. Went on quarters Wed after a quick oral surgery for a mucous cyst. Then signed out on leave on Sunday. I'm trying to get day drunk and peep bikini butts at the beach and the Tanker 1SG keeps blowing up my phone for notes. Today he went off on substandard performance on my part because one of the NCOs I had under me for 2 days didn't have a NCOER done and he PCS in 2 weeks. Explained to him that his old PSG was responsible, I didn't put any thought into it because I'm not his rater/senior rater/reviewer and he went off on substandard performance, how I shouldn't have taken leave until poo poo was squared away, firing me, relief for cause, etc etc. Then got super pissy when I told him I was only in his NCO support channel for 3 days, he was in it for 3 weeks so he's more at fault than me. Like blowing up my phone non stop pissed.

TLDR: gently caress you Mustang.

Kaliber
Jun 17, 2005

I replied with
"Before the transition, it was agreed upon that all NCOERs will be done by the original rater so we would not have to do a change of rater. I assumed his rater and senior rater had it submitted it for corrections and etc 30 days prior like how we usually do. But SSG so and so said it was done and he'll get his old PL to sign it."

And that's where he came back with the whole sub standard poo poo. Dude's a tool. He had two 2000 formation because one of his tanker had a dental appointment to get his wisdom removed. Skipped it and went AWOL. By the time his quarters was over was when people realized he was AWOL. So we had a 100% accountability formation and a roll call because NCOs couldn't keep accountability. The second one was on a Saturday. We have our BN spread out between 4 barracks and some kid in who knows what company destroyed a floor that we had 3 soldiers on. So 2000 ACU/OCP accountability formation to do room inspections.

I inherited about 45 ETS/PCS guys from all the platoons before our transition plus 5 art 15 chap dudes so it's been a pain in the rear end to keep track of everyone. This dude is 15% over body fat, his old PSG has been forging his ABC paperwork and apparently he hasn't passed an APFT in over a year either so there's no chance in hell he'll be able to reenlist. The only reason why we let that slide, is because by the time his old PSG left was because he was 90 days out from terminal leave and it was decided that it was easier to just let him get out then let that poo poo drag on with a chapter.

But I'm about to make one of my three NCOs escort him everywhere. I got one NCO who is about to get the boot for a DUI/crashing into a church, another who has an ankle bracelet and has to meet his PO weekly for his fast and furious race + car crash, and my only squared away one who's transitioning out next week and able to drive. Sucks to be the squared away one who never gets in trouble.
