Edit : also I'm on leave this whole month, gently caress me for not going off pen right?

I kinda miss Korea at times, but I really don't miss the idiot flight officers we had to deal with.

Good times.

Sounds like the perfect time to get married. Can't be worst than the last one, right?

I've got a dumb question that might come up for me in the next few years because I'm a fat-body. Isn't there some rule on PT tests if you fail abdominal but pass the other portions? I'm steadily creeping towards 39 inches but my run is sub-11 and the other parts haven't been an issue.

On an unrelated note, anyone know where I can get cheap airfare? I want to fly from Germany to the US and back and save money possibly by using these military discounts I hear so much about.

There's Space-A, but you're balancing the risk of almost-free flying vs not having a flight/seat available when you need it.

Yeah, I'm a bit more time specific than last time I took Space-A. There's websites like militaryfares.com but $600 round trip two months out sounds like bullshit.

My best advice for you is, besides more cardio to lean out your muscles and HIIT to burn fat off, do the old ben gay wrap the night before. You'll shave about an inch off.

I'm planning to up the running to at least 20 miles a week but I do need to do more interval stuff for sure. I'm pretty sure I can find somewhere to work it in.

The German place is okay, Brit Cafe is pretty much the place to go for breakfast though. They get busy as gently caress but poo poo is delicious.

Anyone remember the name of the place? I'm heading out there for AT in a few weeks. Also, any recommendations for places to checkout nearby would be cool too.

If you're heading to Ramstein, the German place is Deutches Haus and the British place is the Brit Cafe.

If you're looking for a preposterous amount of food, Big Emma's serves "German food at American portions". Don't order a full portion of anything unless you want to have two more meals to take with you, there's tons of it. If you're looking for good Italian stuff Gabriella's in Landstuhl is good. For wings they've got ShaWingz, it's not great but they've got a poo poo ton of flavors some of which are not listed. If you're in the mood for Asian/sushi, Mr. Lian is outside the east gate and it's rather good.

Germany's gotten better about taking cards for things but I still take euro to any given restaurant because German stores in general are still kinda iffy on card usage.

Who is still in in some capacity still? It has to be pretty small nowadays.

I'm still in. I'm in sort of the same spot as Arc Light, I blitzed to E6 and I can reliably coast for another decade.

It's easy and I'm lazy and I'm pretty sure I can do whatever the gently caress I want with a retirement check when I get out.

e: assuming my fat rear end doesn't get kicked out for going over on waist size on a PT test.

Some bullshit is going on in my shop right now.

My entire squadron has the same duty hours, 0700 to 1630, which I was pretty content with. Tired, but content.
Out of left field comes this idea for a split shift in my shop, a predetermined crew in the shop comes in at 1000 and then leaves at 1800. Those of us on the regular shift were all for it because we thought our hours would be cut to match the eight hour shift that the split shifters were getting. Nope.

We work the same amount of time as we used to, and some days split shift gets off at the same time as us. They get the full hour and half lunch. Not to mention they're not even technically doing the shop's mission, we still have to do all the pulls, restores, custody accounts, escort duties, call forwards that we regularly do but with half the manning.

When I first got to this shop (first base) things were pretty nice and I was satisfied but I can't comprehend how no one is raising any questions about why half the shop is getting hosed.

V/R

Did you make this account just to make this post?

Anyway, good news, sounds like someone has identified a problem and can raise a question about why half the shop is getting hosed.

The reason your shop did that is so the flight chief could get a bullet and the reason none of the NCOs are objecting is either because they're on the no work shift themselves or because they're sharing the bullet. Or maybe they're about to get out. Or the worst case scenario for you, all three

I dunno, if I was about to get out I wouldn't give a single gently caress about ruffling feathers on a lovely work shift.

But then I don't give a single gently caress about doing that now so maybe I'm just resigned to never getting promoted again.

Today I had to give a CAF day briefing. Despite using pictures from WikiHow, telling people how to take care of a Mogwai, and warning them not to end up like Jimi Hendrix, people told me I did a great job and they want more. WHY WON'T ANYONE STOP ME?

Not sure what CAF day is, but.

The problem is you made your brief mildly entertaining, both ironically and in substance. It wasn't the same dumb powerpoint bullshit everyone gets, it took a risk and didn't take itself seriously.

Actually, the problem is that you had to give the briefing at all. You must've volunteer or been voluntold and didn't expect what you were getting into.

Actually, the problem is that you enlisted. It's a mistake I recall near every day.
