Stargate: Timekeepers just released yesterday it looks interesting, gameplay has a similar vibe to the recent Aliens: Dark Descent . It's made by Grog Game developer Slitherine, who also made the recent Starship Troopers RTS.

Here is a review from IGN https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnECzX8exC8

I recently started playing Boat Crew, which while named similarly to Bomber Crew it's made by different devs and published by Microprose. Boat Crew focuses more on managing your PT Boat and it's squadron of PT Boats, it's loadout, what targets and weapons you use instead of micro managing the crew, though you can do that too if you have the bandwidth. it's in early access and right now the only campaign is Guadalcanal the devs have plans for a Solomon Islands campaign, the current largest enemy ships are destroyers, of two different classes, but they are working on putting in cruisers and battleships.

Looks like Valheim's record for feedback to patch turnaround time is being either contested out straight up beaten by Tekken 8.

From the time where I recorded a review of the demo version to the patch fixing not just to the finished game but also the demo, a whopping 7 days passed. So that's a new record right there.
However, it can't be that review's accomplishment since we never aired it until yesterday. So it depends on the amount of extra days of feedback they'd gotten.

Still insanely impressive for a game of that scope and complexity to have a turnaround time in fractions of a month.

And since I'm ranting about it anyways, I'm just gonna do some self-promo while it is on topic.

If anyone is interested in something that's essentially Snowrunner but Trains (not really, but it scratches the same itch) Railroader is a pretty decent game. I've been plucking at it slowly, got about 13 hours in between MP with my girlfriend (she's a train sim nerd) and my single player save.

It starts out pretty simple, pick up cars, take them to destinations, etc, but it quickly becomes a full on logistics simulation because you'll find yourself running 5 freight trains and passenger service along about 70 real world miles of rail. Good news is the game supports up to 50 players in a single server, so you can actually build out a steady group of people to run a full on rail company.

The map is based on USGS maps of the Murphy Branch in western North Carolina from the 1950s, and is pretty much 1:1 accurate thanks to those maps. You have both steam engines and early diesel locomotives for your options, and it's weirdly compelling figuring out how to shuffle a ton of trains and their cars through interchanges to make sure everything goes where it needs to go.

If anyone ever wanted to play the love child of Valheim and Zelda Breath of the Wild, I highly recommend Enshrouded that just came out.

Purely PvE survival RPG with a massive world to explore. It's got me hooked, I've literally been playing all day so far.

It's similar to BOTW where you just keep seeing cool poo poo in the distance that you want to check out.

Helldivers 2 is great. The gunplay is a blast and the graphics are fantastic, yeah, but my favorite part of the game is how it utterly nails the "overly moto recruits getting themselves slaughtered right out of basic training" vibe paired with classic Bush-era All-American jingoism. :mensch:

They dropped a patch that kicks people who were AFKing indefinitely to hold a server spot and increased the cap to 750K yesterday, so it's gotten better. Still a queue on occasion but much much better.

It also pays to not try and do everything, regardless of save scumming. There's more than enough to do in that game for multiple runs. Trying to do every quest, loot every barrel, kill every giant rat is just far too much and you're burning up cool discoveries on future runs

Wood elf bard, poking around online before playing folk seemed to recommend bard or paladin and so far it has been fun. Mostly shooting things with a light crossbow and inspiring allies but I’m only level 2.

Oh yeah good idea the scope of the game is colossal so far. I liked BG1 & 2 & planescape torment, but bounced off Divinity 2 as while I appreciated the combat & freedom, the plot felt random & too many encounters were ridiculously high level without warning. This feels properly like a BG sequel so that owns.

Neat! Never played a bard myself but everyone seems to love them. I'm currently in the middle of a dark urge playthrough where I'm a sword and board vengeance paladin, feels great to be able to soak up some damage for change after having spent the past couple of weeks playing a squishy sorcerer glass cannon.

Personally, I would also resist the temptation to binge watch youtube tutorials and scour forums threads for tips, going into BG3 almost completely blind and just seeing where the game takes you was one of the most entertaining experiences I've had in a long time.

That does not narrow down the list of suspects.

Also, once you get bored with the basic game and its DLC packs, try the mod pack RogueTech.
It add a fuckton of new factions (disregarding some issues with said factions being around during a time where they were either already extinct or had yet to come into play), a fuckton of new mechs and vehicles, adds proto mechs (basically a little group of far smaller mechs running around as one unit), elementals, power suits, general infantry, helicopters, LAMs (mechs that can turn into hovermechs with massive evasion and poo poo for survivability if they get hit good and proper, area of effect weapons, emp weapons, acid weapons, morale checks for pilots ejecting, ambushes on urban maps, upgrades to the argo that lets you deploy up to 8 mechs, 4 vehicles + 4 infantry/power suits and a bunch of new missions to boot.

The difficulty range is also changed from the normal 1-10 (1 per half skull) to 1-40.
Surviving suddenly becomes an entirely new adventure. Especially if you start out in clan territory and assume said territory will scale down to your level or that you'll be starting out with gear that can handle that challenge.

I took a truly disgusting lance to go fight the clans for the first time. Something like 3 assaults and a heavy, lots of LRM and AC-20’s, PPCs to make enemy mechs into morons, and as many pulse lasers as I could scrounge up.

It didn’t matter. 1 mech limped back to the leopard before dust off. I think I killed a Timberwolf (or maybe a vulture)?

I got better at picking my fights and ended up salvaging a timberwolf and a vulture, and after that suddenly the 2v2 dueling missions were not much more than target practice/easy credits :getin:
