Hardspace Shipbreaker update is out. Progress was reset since a bunch of it changed. There's a story mode now and the tutorial is more a part of the game than a separate thing you do.

When I played it they weren't too terrible until much, much later in the levels. I eventually told him that the second player's controller could control the ducks.

Pretty glad the supply chain stuff going on didn't do anything to CPU fans. Mine poo poo the bed last week. Pretty sure a bearing disintegrated, the whole thing was seized up and made a gnarly grinding sound when I moved it by hand. Got a replacement for pretty cheap and overnighted it, no problems.

not caring here posted:Speaking of horrible poo poo, I saw something called A Plague Tale: Innocence on the XBox pass thingy and whoo boy that was a doozy. Somehow I had never heard anything about this game. I got this for free on Epic. Maybe a third of the way through it I'm guessing. It's OK. Light action, mostly puzzle solving. The game is like 90% you running around with at least one NPC doing escort missions so the entire game is built around making that suck as little as possible, which makes intense action fighting stuff not really possible.

If you're into the chip tunes rabbit hole and haven't investigated it the, dare I say, science of why it sounds like it does was a fascinating evening of investigation. The stuff they did to cope with the hardware and software limits of the day were pretty amazing.

BF1942 with a few of their DLCs for me, I liked how planes, tanks, boats and everything were all integrated and worked well together.

Shooters and first person anything are pretty miserable on a controller. I loathe the movement that results from trying it. Much better for menu driven stuff like Final Fantasy.

Multi player Stardew is a bunch of fun but oh my god does it break the game over your knee. It's a straight multiplier on energy per day so that right there blows things apart but on top of that it allows specialization like "you take animals, I take crops, we get both bonuses." Still a bunch of fun though.

I played it for maybe an hour or so but the spreading-decay hand/arm and permanently losing mechanic made me not want to invest more time in it and end up totally screwed.

I *WILL* some day pay off my entire debt in shipbreaker. Just not until after it's finally released and I can stop having my progress zeroed out. Fun game, love zen-ing out and tossing much, much more poo poo into the barge than they expect because "gently caress it someone else's problem I'm on the clock" just not a fan of unlocking all the certs for a third or fourth time.

For everyone who has played through Inscryption, I bring the following link for a really good song. For anyone that hasn't played Inscyption; first off go play the game, second for the love of whatever you find holy do NOT ruin the game for yourself this thing is super spoiler heavy and the game is too good to deny yourself the experience of finding out yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78JyGZrv-hQ

Foxhole is working pretty good for that for me. If you got ten minutes, hop on and shoot green mans. If you got longer organize an artillery op and blast some fools over the horizon or go mining for great justice.

The shitshow that Diablo 3 started off as was the beginning of the fall from grace for Blizzard in my head. After lightning in a bottle with Diablo, and then making so many improvements with Diablo 2, to see them piss it all away was saddening.

I'm not gonna poo poo on them too hard because, yeah, they have a whole lot of other stuff going on what with being in a plane and all. Still gonna poo poo on them though. I would have savored every moment of seeing their Invincible Sky God egos get deflated with the realization that, yeah rear end in a top hat, you're part of a team and other people do important stuff too that gets you there.

If it's already broken, take the controller apart. Some times it's something as simple as some crusties on the contact. Bit of isopropyl alcohol and a Q tip, wipe it off, good to go.

Yeah that glass is pretty easy. 4 cuts from the inside at moderate distance and the whole glass panel pops out as one piece. I think it's light enough that you don't even need to tether it. Just float out after it, grapple, spit, done.

Been a hot minute since I played so I have zero idea what those thrusters even are. Didn't exist last time I played. Did they ever make javelins not an impossible cluster gently caress even with det charges? Still not sure I'll ever take one, gently caress them things. Also I swear I remember tethers refreshing automatically at the start of every shift like O2. Did that change?

McNally posted:Atlas thrusters are fun. Put a tether on the end of it so it starts moving out as soon as you cut the pipes, use the splitter beam to cut the pipe cut points fast, cancel the tether once the thruster starts moving (this part is optional), and then fling yourself into the nacelle and hit the flush lever. I can get it done before the fire has moved an appreciable distance. The gently caress is the deal with those thrusters? I hope there's some kind of introduction or tutorial for them. I've never seen one and now I don't want to.

They seem to have fixed a lot of the "You depressurised so now the reactor is going to explode" and "the entire ship will now achieve escape velocity on to your face" stuff so I'm pretty frequently popping hulls like corks to save myself a few seconds moving panels around.

I got the javelin fuel tank out by concentrating on the front half first and stripping it to absolutely nothing left. Completely gone. Once it's out of the way you can tether the cage around the fuel tank off to the front then in to the processor and work on the fuel tank itself.
|
# ¿ May 27, 2022 20:02 |

The superstructure around the fuel tank is higher level than the split saw. You can demo charge it if you want but eh, gotta scrap that front half anyway might as well do that and then work on the fuel tank instead of wasting time with demo charges. ....I also generally hate demo charges and don't tend to use them on anything at all except ion rings if another path is possible.
|
# ¿ May 27, 2022 20:29 |

Yeah, eventually it does become impossible to depressurize any other way. I try to pop the cork while it has as much weight as possible so there's a lower chance of something achieving relativistic velocities, and if possible from the outside. Usually try to just melt an airlock door or two from the outside. Stuff rattles around inside but not much of it domes me.

They're pretty garbage at first, but get a few cert levels in the blast radius reduction track and they turn kinda useful. I just generally didn't use them though. Stronger/longer/more tethers and drag the entire offending object around instead.

My favorite run of Stellaris was a species of sentient fungus that originated on the blasted nuclear hellscape of their tomb world home planet and harbored a resentment for all other life because of it. So they would go full exterminatus on everyone else's planets then colonize the now-hospitable blasted nuclear hellscapes they had made. Worked pretty good and they colonized a lot of the galaxy, until they decided to ascend from this plane of existence by using star crackers on most of it to make exotic matter fuel for their ascension engine.
