It's time for a Megaman Romhack, and what better romhack to start us off than ROCKMAN CX. Rockman CX is a ROM hack of Rockman 2 by Zenkaku Himajin, completed on August 23rd, 2016. Compared to other Rockman 2 hacks such as Rockman No Constancy, CX is a much larger project, reskinning the entire game into something that kind of resembles the Mega Man X series if you squint, with Megaman X3's intro stage, a MMX-style dash, and an entirely different plot, starring the devilish Rockman CX. Unfortunately, Himajin has no idea what level design is. Rockman CX #1: Oh no! A rock! (Heavy Sigh, Shinryu, and Simply Simon)

Simply Simon posted:I'd normally be echoing you, but Sigh is clearly trying to use the weapons a lot, he entered the menu at least three times this video, then he looked at the options and did a namesake. I'm not about to try the game myself and test them for uses like I used to do for MM5 and such, but I strongly suspect based on past experience with Fangames that they just ARE loving bad. Many creators treat weapons as an afterthought and make seven slight variations of the same theme "no good trajectory, also deals too little damage" and one stupidly overpowered one (which might or might not have too little ammo to really be useful...or exist). Of the weapons we have right now, only Ringo Shield and Fire Ball are even remotely good, and neither are much use when you're going upwards. Ringo Shield blocks most projectiles but doesn't do anything against stuff like the Friender's fire streams. That, plus the fact that you have to drop the shield to actually attack anything make it situational at best. Fire Ball is nice, but it's only good against stuff directly in front of or below you, and it's totally useless if there's a pit between you and the enemy. Dead Ringer is just completely loving useless.

Remember when I posted that LP of Rockman CX? Well, what if I told you there was a romhack out there that did the same things it did, but actually good? "Made by talented ROM hacker: Puresabe, comes Rockman 4: Minus Infinity. A ROMhack that does what others only dream of achieving. It is a masterwork in terms of game design and ROM hacking. All of the weapons are powerful and fill different niches. There's at least one or two impressive new features on each level, and they're integrated into the game well. Many of the bosses change their pattern at critical health. They also have custom AI patterns designed to counter the Rush Cannon (a one-hit-kill weapon) that they switch to when you equip it. They become extremely difficult, but not impossible, to hit in this state.. The levels have branching pathways and hidden bosses from other Rockman games that have also been given massive boosts, plus new enemies from other games in the franchise, make an already fantastic game a platforming masterpiece. " But is that all true? Let's find out! Rockman 4 Minus Infinity #1: Ring Ring Ring (Heavy Sigh, jspades, and Great Joe) HOWEVER! There's more to this LP than just that! This game comes with its own Hard Mode, and there's a hell of a lot more going on with that than a simple damage boost! We're going through the whole game in Hard Mode, so get your weapons ready for some truly fiendish platforming! Rockman 4 Minus Infinity Hard Mode #1: Ring Land (Heavy Sigh, Shinryu, and Kalonzombie)
