I think you'll find that superheroes fixing a disaster they created was themselves was one of the very few "action" scenes in the 2005 Fantastic Four movie.

By the way, Tim Story is directing a new Shaft movie. He is probably more famous for Ride Along nowadays.

There's a weirdness saturation that can gently caress you as in The Spirit. Being relatively obscure certainly didn't help either.

None of the Fantastic Four movies did all that well so I'd say the modern movie going public just doesn't want them.

Comic book readers don't want them either. FF books were Marvel's lowest selling titles and they wrote a whole event that ended with Reed and Sue going off to another dimension while Ben and Johnny joined separate teams.

They where planning stopping Xbooks at one point. Which is why we have all those dumb inhuman books

It's a common theory that this whole Inhuman initiative was started by Ike Perlmutter because he can't get the movie rights to X-Men back. Now sales of most Inhuman books are pretty middling compared to X-Men books and Kevin Feige jettisoned the Inhumans movie from Marvel Studios lineup, so he tries to salvage this with making the pilot episodes of the Inhuman TV show in IMAX with a theatrical premier and then cutting a deal with Fox to make two X-Men TV shows (Legion and the Matt Nix one).
