Yep he is immune to reading feedback or catching up on email or being Dave Meltzer in general. Or be biased towards a several decade long source. Great point.

The original plan was always for AXS to bring JR and Barnett to the Long Beach shows.

Then NJPW flew in Calls and Kelly for unspecified reasons, since they were never used.

They flew out Chase Owens. I think they wanted people to share in it all.

There were also all kinds of business meetings too.

New Japan running Wrestlemania weekend. I really don't know who feeds him this info. I assume the ROH office as it is delivered the same way and in the same detail as the ROH news.

He didn't say that.

Last week:

New Japan has been looking into locations for running over WrestleMania weekend in 2018 in New Orleans. ROH has booked a 5,000-seat building and one would think a New Japan show with the top names over Mania weekend should be able to sell that out.

Huge difference between looking into venues and running the weekend. Why ROH would want Dave to report that NJPW is looking into the weekend and completely overshadow the news they are running a big building makes no sense. His tone on WOR was much more "this is a thing they are looking into" which surprised me he'd even say it because it goes against the entire company mentality.

The fact of the matter is is that they never looked into it.

Much link Long Beach was never a leg of the G-1 tournament.

However someone outside of New Japan keeps feeding Dave this info and he keeps publishing it.

Sadly we share sources but Meltzer for some reason always reports ROH office sources over anything it is really weird. He gets "put right" and then publishes nonsense anyway.

That might be the case.

Matt Riddle and Jeff Cobb in the World Tag League should be cool then

I've known this since mid August.

Tag League represents an interesting power struggle between WWN and NJPW over who will get the first refusal on Matt's future dates.

Additionally, WWN was/is a placeholder/resting point for Riddle before he, in theory, would join WWE.

Also the whole Sydal situation. It is a high-risk gamble between multiple parties. The people vouching for Riddle are really putting their heads on the line but are doing it knowingly. Meltzer said essentially that tag league is a tryout for the G1 for Riddle.

Happy Cobb has another lifeline if LU gets shelved. Likewise for Riddle if FloSlam ceases to exist in January.

New Japan suits both better than WWE it is a lot kinder, gentler, family centric and with a lot more self-determination.

It is a very interesting story.

Is the ROH belt not getting defended at the Dome this year?

It is a couple of months away so I can't say with authority but two big factors working against the scenario is that the last ROH title match barely made this year's show. Additionally, Cody is a tag guy in New Japan.

I'd assume it won't. It is not something currently planned.
