Also, using a torch makes it a lot easier to see the boundaries. It also pisses off those weird passive dudes

There are a lot of games that are horrendous to play, but worth experiencing. Let's Plays are a good way of doing that.

Better then nothing, but still not "good"

Considering you get the enjoyable parts without having to deal with the bullshit, it actually is good.

Eh disagree. Theres a fundamental disconnect when you are just watching the story of an interactive medium.

I tried to play silent hill 2 years its release but it was so drat janky I just couldnt. So I watched a LP. Something about not interactive with it. And feeling scared of the monsters through mechanical means. The whole game just seemed really poo poo tbh.

I know it's got a special revered spot in gaming history and in lots of game people I likes opinion.

But it was all a wet fart watching an LP. I did not get the good parts experience that's pretty universal with that game.

The novelization seems a good analogy, but I think it's like reading about comics. I can go on a wiki dive and read all about how Thor totally turned into a frog and had an adventure saving the animals of central park. I have the information the "good parts" you might say. But it wasnt enjoyable and all falls flat. Reading it myself that was a great weird comic run.

Silent Hill 2 is a good game, even if it is a bit janky. I'm talking about games that are worth experiencing, but where the gameplay is actively bad. Like - to use SGF's LPs as an example - Deadly Premonition, or Illbleed.

E: Also, Silent Hill is a franchise where its odd systems add to the experience.

Yeah, I played Deadly Premonition. It's a great game, but the gameplay is horrendous.

I recently acquired Yakuza 0 by a serie of fortunate events.

How I am suppose to play this?, Is advisable to ignore the main story and just forge the game for me? should I follow the main story and then use the game world has my home when the story plateau or something?

The story in Yakuza games almost never really slows down. There will be one or two moments in the entire game where the story takes a pause. So basically, do substories whenever you come across them or just don't quite feel like progressing the story. Absolutely do not just bumrush the story, the substories are some of the best content in those games.

It's a decent Souls clone. Not amazing, but it's pretty solid. $20 is a good price for that.

It's funny that people talk about the porn videos in Yakuza as if they're actually sexy. They're goofy as hell, that's the entire point.

So better to go through the sewers instead of the promenade to get to the ramparts then? Those are my only open routes afaik. I should probably try and beat the area below the guy in the jail cell in the sewers to see if that drops something interesting.

Yes, do that exactly. Also, try to avoid the ramparts entirely.

There's a good point there though, I mean once you've got The Last of Us 2 being made and you already dropped stuff of the caliber of Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 and HORIZON AND GOD OF WAR and you've sold like 70 million PS4s or whatever, do you really need to still drop the $$$ on a regular stream of exclusives for the PS4?

I mean, considering half the titles he listed are PS4 exclusive, clearly Sony thinks they do.

Lmao I just spammed the grab move cause there are invincibility frames on it till I had enough heat for a downed enemy action and there wasn't a goddamn thing they could do abour it. Most ppl would like that but I don't like cheesing games' combat like this but in this case they gave me no option whatsoever. That was not even remotely fun at all. Kiwami sucks when it tries to up its combat difficulty while restricting you- doesn't feel balanced or like there was any clear intended way to win at all. I'm mad rn now, level 3 heat irl posting this with red heat virgin energy pulsing from my body and my penance'd ball's.

From my experience having played a lot of Yakuza this year, that's not a problem that's exclusive to Kiwami. It happens in...just about all of them.

I generally like the combat in Yakuza games a lot, they just sometimes make really baffling decisions that turn individual encounters into an absolute slog. It's a bummer.

A real good example of a baffling awful encounter, in Kiwami 2: There's a fight against Komaki. You're not allowed to use heat actions or items. He can go into extreme heat mode, and when he does, he counters everything you do, either with a parry or with tiger drop. This means that the only way to take out an entire healthbar or more is to lure out an attack, parry him, then get a couple hits before he can recover. It's really obnoxious.

Or you can just use charge attacks. Charge attacks + extreme heat mode meant that Kiwami 2 was the first in the three I played that had absolutely no frustrating fights.

Does he not parry or tiger drop you when you charge attack? I didn't even try because every attack was hard countered. If he was just blocking, that would be one thing...

Really wish I'd have known that going in. That would have made that fight a loooot easier. Still really stupid, but not nearly as bad as it seemed.
