I actually forgot most of Eureka Seven, but I do clearly remember it having probably one of the most heartwrenching moments in Anime for me, when Ray and Charles die. I dunno what it was in particular that made it so heart wrenching, my best guess is a mix of me not being that hardcore into anime at the time (I didn't go to my first anime convention until 08), and how well they got me emotionally invested before burning everything to the ground.
