From what I've heard, Betrayal at Calth is a fun boardgame. Haven't actually read much about Prospero.

Thanks for the new OP, hopefully I can get some of the dorks I play with to paint up some child soldiers and gangers and we can play some Necromunda again. It also might be worth it to note Inquisimunda/Inquisitor/Inq28 but I don't think anyone here actually plays those.

I feel like mentioning Space Hulk: Deathwing in the OP would be worth it, even if it's not a 1:1 adaptation like the other Space Hulk games. I also made a video review of it if anyone's interested:

The best part of Necromunda was the progression system and having your dudes get new abilities/injuries between battles, and seeing your team grow or die was really compelling. It also led to some less balanced matchups, which would either make it really awesome when your underdog team won, or give you a greater impetus to try some different scenarios beyond just "line up and shoot each other" - one off games of Necromunda would still be fun, but they'd be missing a major part of what made the game great. That being said, if GW remade Necro, they'd probably put out a decent app for tracking progression and such which would be real nice.

There is room in my heart for both kinds of adventure. I'm just happy they're sticking with a slightly more grounded setting, and I hope they have some more human-looking heroes to reflect that.

Oh, I didn't know that was the rules they were using. That's really cool! I know Inquisitor was his baby though, so it's good to see he's still bearing that torch.

Even just as a modelling project.... off to ebay I go for OOP bits and pieces then.

I've been doing up a few Inq28 dudes to use as a Necromunda warband, probs Cawdor or Redemptionists. A gang leader is awful weedy to be an Inquisitor, but maybe he's just a really bottom of the barrel Inquisitor with next to no authority.

Or are you referring to Inquisimunda where it's apparently just an acolyte or weedy Interrogator in charge, rather than a full inquisitor (which doesn't really work for me, but whatever floats your space mans boat I guess).

I guess Inquisimunda is more what I'm going for, since I'd rather play Necro with a lovely band of weirdos than go full-narrative and ditch gang values and points costs.

I got to play Shadespire at Adepticon and I really enjoyed it. An expandable, balanced miniatures game with a low model count, low buy-in, and quick playtime is kind of what people have been wanting GW to make for years. I played a few rounds of it with The Sex Cannon and we both had a blast. It's alternating activations and positioning is really key. It's also got a deck building aspect and a board building aspect that we didn't get to explore in the demo, but that only adds more strategy to it. I'm excited to play it, I just hope they expand beyond Stormcast and Bloodbound sooner rather than later. There was a Q&A session where people got too much in the weeds with their questions, but the golden rule of panels is not to have fans ask questions.

Anyway, looking forward to it.

Are the models the same scale as AOS stuff, or are they going to have to expand Shadespire separately?

They're the same scale as AoS models, and they'll get warscrolls as they come out. The thing is, each model has a card that is for that specific character. So for instance, the three Stormcast guys in the starter are wholly unique sculpts with cards and names that correspond with them, as are the 5 Bloodbound guys. Think of them the way Malifaux or Guild Ball has specific characters assigned to cards, and less generic than something like Mordheim henchmen.

I'm betting they will. My only problem is that the included gangs aren't that interesting, even if the models are nice. I'd love to see them use it to explore some of the more obscure and less explored factions in the AoS setting, but when I asked if they were planning on doing that specifically they were expectedly mum about it.

NECROSLAM SPA WEEKEND RECAP

First game was an intro game just to make sure everyone had their grip on the rules - no effect on the campaign. My intro game had TheSexCannon's Orlock gang, the Hulkamaniacs, and BuffaloChicken's Escher gang, Team HEAT, in a 3-way battle with my Goliath gang, the Butchers Bloc. I just maneuvered my dudes around cover on the Slam Sector while the other gangs shot each other. Right when I started closing in we called it since it was getting late, and my dudes were getting to grips with the weedier gangs.

My first game was against Brandon and his Escher gang, the Salt Queens. His gang specialized in morale and making other gangs run, but my guys are pretty hard to shake so it never affected them. We played on the tiles with some neat laser cut walls, and my guys just tanked shot after shot of his before running wild on his gang. Of the four gangers I took out, three of them had lucky full recoveries and the fourth was captured. I sold her to the guilders for some extra income, and 3 of my beefy boys had to sit the next game out due to their temporary injuries.

Because I took such a lead in the first game and had some lucky income rolls, my guys had the highest gang rating. To keep things fair for the other 6 players, the lead player sat out round 2, so I made burgers for everybody.

Round 3 saw me against the Hulkamaniacs. They'd been getting beaten up over the last few games, and quite a few of the stars of the gang were dead, including his dude with a harpoon gun. The mission had us in this crowded, beautiful board my buddy Dylan built and brought, and the mission had swarms of zombies coming out of every corner of the map. The mission was to retrieve an objective and escape with it while avoiding the shambling hordes and opposing player. Dan's gang was only 6 men compared to my 9, but his guys had a combination of longer range shooting and faster movement. His gang was able to seize the objective and run off with it before I could even catch him. No surprise that Dan won this one, it was basically Bloodbowl! I was able to catch one of his guys as they ran off, and he got a spinal injury for his troubles.

Dan admitted it wasn't much of a game, so before the next round he and I played the really silly GW3 scenario where two gangs meet up in a narrow corridor and have a Mexican standoff. Whoever reaches for their guns first will get the upper hand in the battle, but the other gang gets a reputation boost for keeping their cool. My guys were unshakeable, so when his guys panicked they shot up my gang. It wasn't a campaign game and was just for fun - all the better, since my guys got shot up!

Round 4 I played against Buffchix and his Team HEAT. It was on the same board as the game against Brandon, and the tight confines of the board helped me out a ton. We didn't go for any sort of complex mission, just a shootout. I kept catching packs of his gangers in grenades and shotgun salvoes, and my dual revolver wielding juve, Brisket County Jr., leapt over a chasm and was able to put his gang leader out of her misery. I steamrolled his gang, as posted earlier, and my dudes raked in tons of money and advances.

The next day Dan left early, retiring his butchered Hulkamaniacs. Dylan and I had one last game, again on his cool board. He brought Van Saars and man are they a pain to fight against. This mission had a bunch of civilians wandering around (which he brought models for) and it was hilarious - every time a weapon went off, someone got hit, or a fight broke out, you'd roll for each civilian around it - on a 5 or 6 they'd run, on a 3 or 4 they'd stand their ground, and on a 1 or 2 they'd draw a gun and join in! The scenario's goal was to take out the other gang without hitting civilians, as that would cost you precious rep or credits. Highlights include my leader, Slamburger, taking cover behind a civilian, and then the civilian getting mad that he used her as a human shield and shooting him in the face! Eventually my gang was able to close with Dylan's and exact their revenge for getting shot up so badly. My grenadier, Pulled Porkins, died a memorable death, and I went ahead and set half Dylan's gang on fire before punching them or hitting them with the various melee weapons my dudes carried. A very frustrating moment happened when my champion, T Bone, charged Dylan's downed, burning leader. T Bone swung his renderizer and did a bunch of wounds, which Dylan promptly saved before turning around and stabbing T Bone with a power knife, taking my champ out of action. We were running out of time (and gangers!) so we decided to call it a noble draw.

It was a super fun weekend and I'm stoked to play more Necro. I also got some nice pictures of my Goliaths on Dylan's sweet terrain tiles:
