In Warhammer Underworlds, I'm still allowed to use warbands from the first season, correct? It's just universal cards I can't use? I have some skellington boys I want to play with.

NUMBER 1 FULCI FAN posted:Anecdotally, what other GW boxed games have been gaining traction? I like the look and simplicity of Warcry as a sort of beer and pretzels tabletop game, but the $200+ starter box is a pretty absurd barrier to entry. Same with Necromunda, though the setting appeals to me less. So if I got into a GW skirmish game it'd probably have to be all in on one. Underworlds might be closer to what you're looking for

AnEdgelord posted:Is it worth picking up the older warbands for Underworlds? I'm gonna start playing again with a buddy of mine from work who hasn't played with me since we messed around with the Nightvault starter and this time I'd like to start collecting some of the other warbands to mess around with. I also wanted to ask if some of the older card expansions are still good to pick up or if the cards in them are irrelevant now that they've rotated out. It's completely fine. Only the older universal cards aren't valid anymore in tournaments unless a newer card with the same name exists (use the newer card's text in case it's updated) and even then you can just agree to use them anyway (we do when I play with friends).

MRLOLAST posted:Does the boards really differ that much for UW? Like does one benefit a certain playstyle more than another or is it just taste? i think so. the location of the starting spots are the most impactful and the four boards my friends and i use are fairly different. the way the boards are set up at the start of the game can make a huge difference, and the board layout is a part of that

I ask because I was looking at getting one of these Doomflayers the other day, but if they're still likely to be as bad as some of the other finecast pieces I've had in the past I may hold off. Not on new stuff AFAIK but yes. It's still trash.

I mentioned it in the other thread but Underworlds is better than Necromunda. Unless you're dead set on the 40k universe (which I'd understand), I'd absolutely go for that. Otherwise, yeah get Necromunda

Anarcho-Commissar posted:As someone who would have been getting started in KT, it's an issue for me because I want a SpecOps team, like the A-Team, Dirty Dozen, or Bad Batch. I don't want to play "just a normal squad detached over there." I want Gaunt's Ghosts. It looks like they are planning to release kits like this and besides, with kitbashing and painting you can still make them look like your guys and give them personality, you just have less choice over loadouts and composition. It's a fair complaint, but I don't think it's that bad.

If a friend and I want to get into Necromunda, what's a good way to start? It seems really difficult to get into now. What rule books do I even get? I already own a Van Saar box (I got it as a gift a long time ago) and plenty of terrain but I'm not dead set on Van Saar. I'd love to get two teams that are fairly balanced towards each other.

I'm getting a 3D printer and am REALLY excited to try Epic. I keep seeing references to fan-compiled rules or something? Can somebody link it to me? I'd also really appreciate some resources on where to find models.

Is there a reason you're limited to up to 7 models per infantry base in Epic 40k? I would really like to use the model below for my hormagaunts but it's technically against the rules. I know my buddy doesn't care but what about people in general? Does it have any impact at all on the way the game is played?

I like the swarm look so I prefer to just keep it as such. Cease to Hope posted:It 100% does not matter. Infantry units in all of the popular fan-made versions of Epic are one squad per base, and aren't counting heads. The smallest functional unit in all of them is "one squad(ron)" or "one vehicle". Thanks. Do you think anyone would give a poo poo? I guess I wouldn't want to play with anyone who does anyway

Al-Saqr posted:Hey guys, been thinking of dipping my toe back into 40k but I cant go the normal route since that would require alot of money and time investment, as well as the fact that I dont have anyone else who would be willing to learn the rules with such minutae. Sadly, Space hulk seems to be extremely rare expensive. Kill Team is not a simplified 40k, it's solidly its own thing. It's also really good, fast and pretty easy to learn. Pick an army you like, though the ones specially made for Kill Team will be a bit more interesting due to the huge amount of options you get. I'm pretty sure it's doable with more than two players but 2 is the intended number. e: In my opinion KT is better than 40k.
