People talk about out anti ballistic missiles like they're garbage tier iron dome-like systems, when in reality even the lovely little SM's on our ships are accurate enough to hit a washing machine in high earth orbit. Russia knows their only hope is a swarm attack mixed with a ton of chaff, and there's no goddamn way they could wipe out even a small chunk of american cities with that strategy.

there's no effective counter to ballistic missiles simply because they move too high and too fast, your only chance to intercept is either at launch or near apoapsis, which you can't do because country borders and the issues with space militarization/weaponization respectively
