I made fun of this when the first images came out of Li'l Hitler, but now it's my favourite non-returning show of the season. Kinda proves them right though that Being X is incompetent since they just waste time on trolling Tanya/salary man.

I'm kinda confused now. Wasn't the whole 'Plan 315' a delaying action on different fronts and shifting troops to conquer each front respectively? But if they're only fighting Not-France, they only have the one front to fight on the continent.

drilldo squirt posted:She seems like that but she also sent her friend back to the rear so even if she can't admit it she is capable of emotion like that. Her face still weirds me out though. She rationalised that as just trying to look like a good CO and a good person to increase her chances for promotion and I'm inclined to believe that. Kinda wish that was called up during the dinner after her "bad reputation" was mentioned.

ViggyNash posted:Huh. This may be accurate to the Romanian invasion, but narratively I don't quite see the point of it yet. To show how Tanya sees things? Establish the character of her battalion without a credible threat so we know how they operate when dealing with actual enemies.

Namtab posted:It's definitely weird that they don't have any idea of air warfare seeing as we saw that planes exist. The only thing I can think of is that nobody ever thought to strap guns to them. When sticking guns to planes requires the invention of the thing that ties the gun's firing to the prop's RPM so the plane doesn't shoot its propeller off, or the more complex machinery to have wing-mounted guns and you have the alternative of just using flying people with guns that likely can move faster and present a lesser target than planes, it makes sense they won't use planes for air superiority.

Desuwa posted:In the books there's a big focus on altitude mattering and the enemy mages being unable to effectively fight Tanya when she's 2000ft over their usual ceiling. Mages are "stronger" than planes in a fight but planes can fly above the effective range of regular mages and ignore them. The only niche that WWII planes have really lost to the mages is close air support. Yeah but this is WW1. They have a service ceiling higher than say a Sopwith Camel at the start of the war, so Tanya and her battalion have parity with WW1 planes meaning all of their roles other than level bombing are fulfilled, and WW1 lacked too many effective bombers. They existed but were pretty crap (WW1 aircraft.txt). We don't know about the cap on mage technology, but for this war we really oughtn't see any relevant non-mage air power. hoobajoo posted:I would be excited at the very least to see planes being escorted by mages as the war advances, and it would be cool to see the two clash against each other. And this. This would be great.

Desuwa posted:Yeah but for whatever reason the planes are more advanced than aviation at start of WWI at least to the point where, in the novels, it's brought up that planes have a significantly higher service ceilings. Maybe not full on WWII but definitely more advanced than the start of WWI, they've even shown an all-metal aircraft which I think puts the tech past the end of WWI. I'd assumed that was just a painted wooden transport plane, but since it is a WW1 technically in the interwar period (Isn't it 1923 or something?) we could really see anything. It is NUT's first show so maybe there are teething issues with the studio. Shame, because Tanya's surprisingly my favourite show this season. Not the best, but probably the most enjoyable to watch.

I really liked the banter among the troops before dropping off, it's a little thing that greatly enhances the quality of the show that doesn't necessarily have to be there. That and everything to do with SMG guy, best Secret Santa in anime.

kirtar posted:We don't even know if breakdown guy is the one who shot. If it was supposed to be him trying to shoot at Tanya, that could easily have been her executing him. I thought breakdown guy just gave in and followed orders, that's what the cut to the angry kid suggested, that he recognised the need to follow orders out of fear while still absolutely hating it. Nephthys posted:Man, Tanya up to now has been pretty evil but in an entertaining badass kind of way. "Tanya the Evil" never really struck me as that apt a title. But I think this was the first time I felt like she was just straight up an evil monster. I'm still rooting for Tanya. The paper she wrote was probably just another avenue into reaching a nice cushy HQ job probably interpreting international law to help the war effort and was legitimately showing contempt for the orders and strategy through her mockery of it and seemed annoyed to have to put up with it.

Raenir Salazar posted:I'm slightly annoyed at the V-1's appearing this early when the first manned flight of the Heinkel He 178 wasn't until 1939. 1925 just seems way too early. It sure as heck ain't a V1, just a generic rocket given that name, and it's nothing like the 178 as it has no manoeuvrability. I'm annoyed it's taken the V1 name and misrepresented it.

However, the other versions of that crystal that the rest of her group have do work without prayer. Really it's more a case of "your crystal doesn't work if you don't pray" rather than "your crystal only works when you pray", it's Being X being a dick rather than granting power.
