dark souls 1 also has entire missing questlines that were left on the cutting floor, theres many minutes of leftover dialogue in the audio files. i think vaatividya or someone put all of it on youtube and broke down how it relates to the story, its pretty cool

Vaatividya's prepare to cry about Oscar is my favourite one of those. It seems like originally he was supposed to be like an NPC version of you, and you'd run into him in various points in the story and I think even team up with him for areas a bit like Solaire, and then after you beat the final boss he would oppose you depending on which ending you chose and would be a final final boss. So his journey mirrors yours the whole way through.

But instead he just gets stomped by the Asylum Demon before the game starts and dies 10 minnutes in (spoilers)

It was cool seeing a programmer put a poem/song about a child murderer/rapist hidden on the code of a NES game.

TFC was supposed to be a much more generic realistic military themed squad game called Team Fortress 2, but it switched to the more cartoony style of TFC later in development

Some of our favorite games went through crazy development processes. In some cases early versions were drastically altered or thrown out and restarted or even made into entirely different games. Let's talk about alphas/betas/prototypes

This is the very first Alpha WoW class/faction selection screen. Gnomes and trolls weren't even part of the design plan yet and were added later

Resident evil 2 looked totally different and the story was intended to end with this installment. The capcom manager overseeing the developers made them throw the whole thing out and start over with a less modern look

Resident evil 4 went through 4 different versions, one of which became Devil May Cry. I can't find any shots

ok no offense but this was too long so i didn't read it haha

It's cool that valve eventually decided to buy cs and redesign tf2 rather than try to compete with the mod in the military fps realm.
