This thread sent me down a path to ordering poo poo I do not need. It's mostly been washi tape, but I had to own that Live Laugh Love Skeletor pin. My favorites out of the patches and pins so far: I Want to Leave patch in the style of the classic Mulder poster. A Blade Runner oragami unicorn pin This sick-rear end molotov patch I got for a buddy's jacket I've also gotten adorable dinosaur tape, really rich crane tape, and have all sorts of stuff still coming. I'm also this close to ordering a set of sheep coasters.

I haven't used any of the new stuff yet, but I mostly just use it for tarting up the edges of greeting cards and boxes and such. Haven't really wrapped anything in it yet. The ones that showed up recently seem about as good as the ones I've paid more money for, though. Not like masking tape is all that sticky to begin with.

I've gotten stuff from these stores and have gotten good stuff. Kind of a mix between masking and backed tape that's tough to tell at a glance from the listing, but not a huge deal. The backed stuff is just a little annoying to deal with, but way easier to cut to length. https://gimue.aliexpress.com/store/2407098 https://mohamm.aliexpress.com/store/1412013 https://www.aliexpress.com/store/4397082

Is it worth requesting a refund if stuff is even lower quality than expected? I ordered a few knockoff utilikeys, figuring at least one of them would be okay, but none were. If it's usually a lot of bullshit, I'll just eat the 5 bucks and just replace my existing one with a legit one or a different tool.

I was going to snag a set of the Haylou earbuds, but Amazon reviews suggest they don't meet US standards for lead? I mean, cheap lowest-bidder stuff, obviously, but it made me leery.

I mean yeah, but I'm not putting pins or washi tape directly in my ears.

So I decided a bit back to give the Haylou GT1's a shot, went with the Pro since it was like 3 bucks and sounded like they were better. Overall pretty impressed with 20 bucks, took a bit of tinkering with my equalizer in Spotify (and subsequent tweaks to my car stereo since it's not per-device) but I have a sound that's way better than my existing cheap headphones. Mic is apparently a little tinny from a chat with a friend, but still clear. Not a bad purchase for 22 bucks.

I've gotten complaints about the mic quality for calls on the Haylous. Like, it's not terrible, but mine are apparently noticeably bad.

I had that happen to me with Amazon. Got a few packages of random junk, only thing good was a set of LED solar lights. Took like 5 phone calls for them to realize that no, I don't have a second account ordering random crap from China. I do that on my regular account and on AliExpress. Idiots.

Mine was just the address, far as I can tell. No charges I didn't expect from Amazon, so I assume it was just reviews being funded with stolen gift cards. I mostly just called it in so there'd be a record of me going "hey, this isn't me" if anything came up.

There's definitely magnetic data/charge cables floating around, I don't have a recommendation from Ali specifically, though. I have one for the washi tape nerds: Anyone found any that looks like a circuit board? Either transparent or looking like a PCB would work. My googling and aliexpressing hasn't found me much.

I would love it if some company did Mini-B connectors for those mag cables. I have a few controllers that take it and keeping a mini cable around is a hassle. Not that the DualShock 3 would charge with one.

I wanted to upgrade my keyboard I take to work for hotel desking, so I threw together a 75% one after checking some reviews. Never built a mechanical out before, but it should be fun to do and hopefully not start a horrific new hobby. My keyboard junk showed up way earlier than expected. Didn't get the ? cap yet, but everything else was solid. I realize now I hosed up and got the wired version of the board base, but it's whatever and returning something to Ali is probably a nightmare.

Alucard posted:Glad to hear that things are working nicely! If you don't mind me asking, what were you intending to get instead of the wired base? I'm thinking of replacing my keyboard and was considering something along these lines, either a hotswap base and build my own or just buy a premade. Turns out I didn't screw up, I was just confused and there's not a wireless barebones yet. The TES68 has a wired+RF+Bluetooth version and I got the two mixed up because AliExpress. CIY also offers a complete TES84 setup in wireless, but it only comes in one switch type and in a white colorway for the base and keys. I assume eventually it'll be available barebones and I can just score one then if this works out. Wired's fine, just would have been a nice perk to pair it with my tablet or whatever. One less battery to keep track of.

Alucard posted:Good to know, I was considering wireless as an option so I might go prefab or TES68. The color ways aren't as critical for me. Perk of the prefab is you get all the functions marked out for stuff like wireless toggles and the like on the default keys. There's nothing all that important on the wired, just LED control and you can do that in the app anyway.

Since people liked keyboard chat last time, I found a set of keycaps that actually had the right stuff for my old Logitech keyboard. Gave it a bit of a cleaning and tossed these on. Keycaps - Ghost Judges Apollo Got them for 34 as part of the Black Friday stuff. Really tough finding keycaps with the 1U Win/menu keys and the 6.5U spacebar.
