Explosions posted:I liked the first episode of this but watching it is like watching a horror movie, except instead of waiting on edge for a monster to jump out and startle me I'm waiting for a seven year old with beachball cronenberg nightmare tits to appear. there's been talk that she's not going to appear in the show at all because she's not been mentioned anywhere while other later characters have. That would make this the Ideal Adaptation

If they redesigned her it'd be fine. Her character itself isn't bad(backstory, mindset, etc), but her proportions and design are downright offensive.

In the manga Tohru repeatedly has "dragon-like" moments where she acts completely alien to how humans act, and even says as such that she thinks differently. The anime, she's much less calculating.

I've been catching up on the manga and they actually made Iruru into a decent character, I'm surprised. Still a walking bundle of NWS, but the candy shop job thing and her reasons for taking it were good. Her character design's still problematic at best, but at least the author's done some good with writing for her if she's going to be sticking around.

no, cool kyo shinja is the problem, the anime largely removes a lot of troubling things(though it still is marred by some of them, such as the aforementioned Lucoa stuff, but even that is toned down significantly) and yet retains the good atmosphere and humor of the kobayashi household.

Basically maid dragon is a fantastic series tragically marred by cool kyo shinja being a deviant sexfiend and not being able to keep his creepy fetishes out of his otherwise pretty wholesome slice of life series, that's what holds it back from being really great and an easy recommendation, and that's a huge shame
