Looking forward to relearning the heroes - marvelheroes.info has even taken down the Builds section.

They're still good - I had a think about reviewing the recommended characters, but decided they were all still good picks. Cyclops' place on the list was earned just because he was a basic ranged character you could level with one-button, his expanded attack range and call-in moves makes him an interesting glass-cannon type of character you can build around different debuffs or attack type procs.

The best thing to do is just think about what type of character you enjoy playing (melee/ranged etc) and there'll be at least 3 or 4 options to choose from.

Man, everyone's so pessimistic right off the bat.

Here's my cosmic-capable Loki illusions build

Basically this plays like the old illusions build, except I've forsaken Enthrall for more interesting options - again, the core of the build is just whacking people with a staff while blowing Ruin every time it's up, but now you have a bunch of other options for your slots and you no longer lose Illusions to anything other than duration. Hardlight Spikes directly increases the damage taken from your illusions, so we want that, and we may as well take Otherworldly Blast to feed back into it. Signature, and movement, of course - I've chosen to enhance mine to Cold Snap because with all the illusions up you can afford to just get the gently caress away from mobs to recover rather than rely on 2 seconds of stealth, and it affords more aoe when you're in the fray. Finally, Arcane/Infernal Binding for CC, and Asgardian Light because I had more bar apace - I originally took Spirits of the Dead because it looks cool, but swapped as AL offers another CC option, health regen, and my summon talent choices meant I had 20% Light boost with no Darkness boost.

So I built a Doom that feels pretty cool, but holy poo poo his damage is so pathetic. I don't know if it's just because I thought I'd run Cosmic Doom, but where I would usually blow the ultimate while Doom was transforming to his final form because it only took about half the ultimate to kill him, the entire ultimate did barely 1/3rd damage. I kind of feel like I should find out if that's just how Cosmic Doom is now, but on the other hand gently caress that, the fight was so goddamn long and boring.

You don't want to always be charging because that would make selling items or even switching characters impossible. But what you think the talent would do, which is turn it from a cooldown into a momentum dump, doesn't work out that way because it doesn't eat up that much momentum so any time you stop charging you almost instantly have full momentum again and can go straight back to charging.

Still have no loving idea what the gently caress is with crafting and enchanting and whatever else - is that something I need to worry about in the future? I've kept all the runes and crafting items I've found, but I'm a klepto and my stash box has maybe two spots left. Also, I'm level 48 or something but Hightown only unlocks at 60, and I want to finish Colossus before I switch heroes or whatever - is there somewhere I should go to grind or should I do some of those legendary quest things?

Oh, and could someone add me to Groot Squad? My user name is JaymeSilver - thanks!
Generally don't worry too much about runes unless they have an icon when they're off the screen. Idiots like myself who have multiple stashes have hundreds that go unused. Crafting is mostly a max level thing, although while the holiday event is going on you should dump any Lanterns or Lunar Dragons you pick up into the Crafter's Donate slot - this levels them and increases the range of recipes you can use, and event drops like that tend to be unusually valuable. You need at most one stack of the essences/filaments, but if you're itching for space they drop at a higher frequency at max level anyway and are only used in any large quantity when you're min-maxing end-game gear.

Finish off any Story missions you have that don't offer a Story Reward Box - those are the best places for xp at the moment (ones with a box are basically no xp and take forever to do). If you're out then any Legendary Quest for a Terminal is your best bang for buck, then any other Legendary Quest. Also, if you have Story quests and you're finding it too easy you can pump the difficulty up to Red when you're using the waypoint and that'll give you more xp in general.

what would be neat is if some of the affixes give you access to one of your talents, letting you pick another one in the same tier so you can have both :getin:
Of the examples Rawr gave, only Black Cat and War Machine had interesting effects. Black Cat's added Deadpool Caltrops to her stealth roll, while War Machine's added enhanced ammo effects to his laser blade.

I think the most interesting interactions will come if they can implement affixes that rather than simply giving you a talent so you have two from the same tier force you into thinking about changing your existing choice for that tier to another one, especially for those characters who have specific specs that are completely unfeasible without certain talents. Something like an affix for Doom that summons his different Latverian bots whenever you hit with a physical/energy/mental power would mean that you're like, wow, okay to run a summoner I can take this and swap out the bot summon skill and the talent to make it summon all three, but the trade-off is I can't pop them at will as part of a handgun rotation and I have to play the full range of damage types rather than specialising into tech or magic.

They're individual pools that fill up in sequence - so you earn a point in one gem then the next. Your total points persist across characters but allocating them is a per-character choice.

Diablo 3 Witch Doctor is a significantly more known-quantity issue. Summons are actually treated as a stacking DoT with finicky targeting from top to bottom as every Diablo 3 skill is built to scale from your DPS. Skills are nothing but a multiplier to your stats. Gargantuan is (say) 1000% of your whatever your auto-attack is. If you upgrade an item that increases your DPS by 1% then your Gargantuan gains 1% damage. And, unlike Marvel Heroes, if you want a summon you have to give up that skill slot - there's no passive summons.

In Gaz's case they would be looking at, just in the case of Doom, trying to balance a no-summons build against everything from the exact same build except with a talent that makes them deploy a base 3x15,000-20,000 'DoT' whenever they attack to one that has anywhere from 3 to like 12 roaming DoTs at any given time, all with their own base damage multiplied by your stats, and keep that scaling factor consistent across all characters as well as tune the base damage so that it's as useful at level 2 when you have 5 stats boosting them as it is at level 60 when you have 50+. It's way out of their depth.
