Potentially a really good change. Their game didn't handle making a lot of keybinds well, so this makes the new player experience better.

there was a massive wall of text of colossus changes in a recent TC patch, so at least he wasn't ignored

Went from hitting 17-20 million brutal damage hits with Cap to maybe 2 million max. Cosmic stuff is infuriating now. How the hell do I get that back up now?

Cosmic difficulty stuff hits a bit harder now, and everyone lost a TON of hp regen due to the durability change. So some boss waves can be particularly nasty.

The damage output of heroes (aside from summoners which apparently got the shaft) should be more or less on par with the previous version.

Thing has talents to let you just spam dash and crashdown forever, sort of like leap attack spam.

Hulk has lots of leaping as well, but not as a nice of a way to restore the charges, he still wrecks everything though.

Juggernaut can run a steerable whirlwind forever.

Have they replaced the "swap costume affixes" recipe yet so if you get a new one you can trade your previous rolls onto it yet?

no that's not in yet unfortunately, so you have to roll up your stats again

it's not that expensive anymore to roll up good stats, I've done probably 5 catalysts now with all 4 in 90%+ range and spent maybe 6m credits at most, which is like 2 hours in CMM

yeah I mean technically it's not permanent, though it can be in a Danger Room scenario with test of blood (gives you infinite momentum)

you can combine Cost Reduction (caps at 50%) and max momentum to charge for a really long time, if you want

cl_gibcount 9999

improve the XP in Danger Room and replace every terminal with a base scenario equivalent to it with the random mods and the requirement to fill progression up before you get to fight the boss

Also tried out melee Vision. It's hard to find a good balance with him. He's simpler to play now but also suffers from needing 2 more hotkeys. His damage output is better than ever but he's farrrr squishier now that there's no bar space for healing nanites or his invisibility. Also charmed pets like his robot require you to have the charm ability on your hotbar now. So you fly in, pop your 2 big explosions from sig and overclocking, then just die. Stacking up defense through infinity nodes and talents does help a lot but not quite enough. And fighting non-bosses just blows because there's no space on your bar for any decent aoe besides your sig and overclocking.

it does suck you have to have AI Hack on your bar just to have your pet summoned

but nanites you can have auto-cast with a talent and vision has plenty of invulnerability moves with his crashdowns, phase change, and dash/teleport it shouldn't be THAT hard to stay alive, worst case scenario just put on a Perseus

cl_gibcount 9999

Iron Fist is more or less identical to how he played pre-patch.

Which means: he's very good and has multiple fun and viable builds.

cl_gibcount 9999
Aug 15, 2002

Ideally yes they will be more attractive to use than uniques, but using uniques to farm more difficult content for those items later on will be the way to go. So as long as you have decent gear on the heroes you want to play you should be fine.

cl_gibcount 9999
Aug 15, 2002

what would be neat is if some of the affixes give you access to one of your talents, letting you pick another one in the same tier so you can have both :getin:

Ghostlight posted:

Of the examples Rawr gave, only Black Cat and War Machine had interesting effects. Black Cat's added Deadpool Caltrops to her stealth roll, while War Machine's added enhanced ammo effects to his laser blade.

I think the most interesting interactions will come if they can implement affixes that rather than simply giving you a talent so you have two from the same tier force you into thinking about changing your existing choice for that tier to another one, especially for those characters who have specific specs that are completely unfeasible without certain talents. Something like an affix for Doom that summons his different Latverian bots whenever you hit with a physical/energy/mental power would mean that you're like, wow, okay to run a summoner I can take this and swap out the bot summon skill and the talent to make it summon all three, but the trade-off is I can't pop them at will as part of a handgun rotation and I have to play the full range of damage types rather than specialising into tech or magic.

yes I was thinking another simple affix they can create are ones that autocast certain skills on a condition, freeing up a bar slot and just making you more powerful in general with free casts.

an example: 25% chance on hit for Juggernaut to smash his opponent with his Big Headbutt (4s cooldown)

I'd wear an omega item with that even if the stat rolls were definitely worse than a unique in the same slot. Easy to implement, but still useful and somewhat creative.
Granted talent choices are pretty simple as well, considering most talents give exactly the kind of thing a D3 legendary would give and what you would expect Omega items to have to be worth hunting for and using.

What you suggest is great too, but probably requires way more effort from Gaz to make all those build shattering affixes for 50+ heroes, so I doubt we'd see much of that when the patch drops. Maybe over time if the game don't die.

personally I go with guns, rockets, lasers, and nitrous huffing

almost everything is movement tagged so you can abuse the hell out of midtown signet, meaning you don't have to gear a single bit of CR and can instead go with tons of BR for all those sweet red numbers
the only skill that won't have 100% crit is your gas bomb, but that's ok since it's weak and is just there for the vuln

medallion is doom, power duration makes nitrous boost last longer which is nice

also this builds shooting n' moving mechanic plays really well with a controller if that's your thing
