Just saw this piece of poo poo vari desk commercial and I'm wondering if these people actually exist or if it's just some conspiracy by business owners that think their employees are too fat, or they hate their employees, or they got some weird failed government prototype and had no other way of marketing the device. If you are a stupid idiot that thinks standing up to work on a computer is a good idea post here and tell us why you are stupid and/or an idiot.

think about farting like, if you are sitting in a chair and u fart, then the fart air goes into the chair cushion; if you are at a standing desk then the fart goes straight into the air which is better?

I used to work for Facebook and I guarantee you they exist. I think for most people who got them, after a week they remained permanently in the sitting position. e: lol the first image when you GIS for "facebook office standing desk" is the NYC office and has my former boss in it. fun fact he is oddly obsessed with Disney World. I used to work 12 hour shifts sometimes sitting down the whole time and I would just move all the chairs into the corner and pace around, but I didn't have to do really anything except be in a room, so for actual jobs ymmv!

Some smoking hot chick came by my office and said she wanted a desk like that. I was like, "pffft I'm lazy that desk looks like hell on earth." We haven't slept together as of yet

tho for real, sitting all day in one spot is actually bad for you, standing all day in one spot is also bad for you too (ask anyone whose done cashier or other retail work) those mixed desks are nice but you aren't magically going to be any healthier standing, but moving around is good for you every so often and standing makes it a little easier just to go walk around for a little bit if you're lazy

Maybe that's the answer.

They gave me a ~$1500 office chair in the color of my choice and the dimples silence my farts so I will stay seated thank you.

I used to work for Quicken Loans and most desks were those standing desks because they were all into Silicon Valley bullshit about employee productivity or some bullshit. A few of my co-workers would stand while working for most or all of the day, but most people ignored it like I did. I've never worked anywhere else with standing desks, but I bet every other tech firm has that same desk crap.

I love standing at my desk. I'll take a seat if I have a phone call or something. Out of every hour I'm at my desk, I'm on my feet 45-50 minutes. Unless you have a serious case goonbody, standing for a while really isn't a big deal. Helps keeps the lbs off. Avoids nasty secretary butt. People think you're working harder. I literally got my last promotion because my boss's boss saw me "up all the time, moving around." He really thought I was working harder than everyone when I was really just trying to get my steps in

At my job in the factory I'm on my feet all day I do real work because any job that has you sit at a desk all day pushing paper is not work it's just bullshit. Office workers should think about contributing something tangible to the world that isn't the technology to inject crisco directly into their veins.

Like, we have an acronym we use to refer to humans doing manufacturing work vs maintaining the robots. Factory workers should think about contributing something tangible to the world, anything at all, in about 10-20 years. Sorry.
