They are definitely faster, and seeing the aero working due to the dust is pretty cool. Sound the same to me. Ott Tanak had a misfire on the final stages that made his car sound much cooler and shoot flames from the exhaust. Ogier had a few offs and didn't look as impervious, but still won comfortably. Citroen being absolutely nowhere was probably the biggest news.

The WRC youtube channel is pretty good, having highlights up within an hour or two of stages. Red Bull Tv has longer highlights featuring Mark Webber

I just want good event coverage, if WEC can do streaming for an extended event than WRC certainly can at the very least from onboards. F1 has been less than stellar for quite a few years and I've stuck with that because the coverage of the entire weekend is indepth and half decent, my bar isn't that high and I like rallying far better but I still can't get into WRC because any time I've watched live the coverage has been garbage.

I got WRC+ for the weekend since it promised live video coverage. It turned out live coverage was for only two stages out of 17. Its a cost issue apparently, where they cant afford to have enough stationary cameras and particularly helicopters to cover any more. Even when i presume the two stages had been prepared for live coverage with video links and stuff, the live picture from the cars dropped all the time, and wasn't even close to HD. The broadcast was pretty dependent on having a helicopter above each car.

WRC+ is a bit of a waste if your not really into rally. It has the two live stages, GPS-tracker on all cars both in and outside of stages and you can watch on-board video of any driver on any finished stage, also for previous seasons. Its also not super expensive at €5 per month, but without all stages being live, you will probably not see the defining moments live, and you will need to watch the free rebroadcasts anyway.

Its only 3.8 seconds between Latvala and Tanak for the lead too after 15 stages. Always good when the standings aren't set going into Sunday. Ogier only 16 seconds down and may become a factor, but I hope he doesn't.

Østbergs rear wing fell off yesterday and he isn't in the overall contention. He changed goals to go for the record jump at Collins Crest. 42m and more than 160kph over the crest.

I kinda love the bare bones nature of the WRC as well. The FIA™ WRC™ Certina™ Official Timekeeper for that stage was a slightly rusted Volvo 850 on the start line with a laptop in the back.

So Latvala took it which is cool for him and for Toyota. This season could be quite good, and all the cars seem competitive. Ford and Toyota both have wins, despite perhaps being underdogs before the seasons. Neuville/Hyundai dominated both rallies until crashing, and will probably manage a win eventually. The Citroen might be a bit off the pace ,but they have the most resources and history, and should be able to challenge for wins eventually.

How mad was Ogier after not winning for once?

He was the first over to congratulate both Tommi and Latvala and seemed genuinely happy for them on the podium. He hosed up spinning on the very first corner on Sunday, so its not like he has anyone to blame but himself and to his credit, he didn't.

Tanak is definitely one to watch. He did some pretty heroic driving saving the final spot on the podium in Monte Carlo with a misfiring engine. That final corner

The youtube channel has pretty good recaps. as does Red Bull TV. If you want full replays and all the onboards you can get WRC+ for something like 5€ pr month. There isn't a continuous video stream like other events though. Only certain stages are live video, since that requires several helicopters. Speaking of which, there where some incredible heli shots today. Ill see if ill find some video.

I think its several factors. I think that you need to drive with clenched muscles to avoid having the steering ripped from you going over rocks or bumps, which is going to ache real fast. You obviously do a lot more and more abrupt steering input than in circuit racing, and a even slightly heavy steering is going to tire you fast. Diffs loading up (active centers this year) and torque steer could also be factors i guess. I know that I can get aching arms from Dirt Rally, and that never happens in other sims. Maybe Cat Interceptor or Kaptain Ballistik can pipe in.

Rally Mexico going on now. First gravel rally of the year. It started yesterday with 2 special stages in Mexico City. Unfortunately, the car transporters got stuck when a highway closed due to an accident, so the first few stages of today are canceled.

3 different winners in 3 different cars thus far. It looks like only a matter of time before Neuville in the Hyundai gets one based off his previous pace. This could be a good season, but Ogiers consistency is starting to tell already.

Rally Corsica is about to start. It is a very technical and twisty tarmac rally that is said to be the biggest challenge for the co-drivers of the season. It is also one of the most historic of rallies having been a part of WRC since the first season with only a few breaks.

Wins for 4 drivers in all the different cars now. Neuvilles deficit to Ogier is pretty big already though. Ogier has finished 2nd in every rally except the one he won. You can't really afford to gently caress up any part of the season against him.

Pretty crazy margins this rally though. Latvalla beat Breen for 4th by 0.1 seconds after 3.5 hours elapsed time! Ogier beat Sordo for 2nd by 1.3 seconds too.

Rally Argentina is about to kick off with a special stage in Cordoba. Its a loose dirt rally that is infamous for its spectators, both in number (up to half a million over the weekend) and their willingness to get close to the action. Its also a rally Ogier has never won, a streak that can hopefully continue. Live text and timing here

I'm a bit surprised that no one seems to be using recce cars of the brand they are racing for. Hyundai uses BMWs. M-Sport Ford uses old Volvos and the rest seem to prefer Subaru WRX STIs. They all have Euro plates too, so its not like its just what was available locally.

Follow it here http://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/livecenter/page/4175----.html or on WRC+. I believe there are codes for a few months free trial.

Its currently really close for the lead with 1.4s separating the top 4 after 4 stages. It would be cool if Tanak could get his first win.

Rally Germany is starting properly after yesterdays super special stage. Its a fast tarmac rally, and among other races across the famous Baumholder tank proving grounds with huge rocks lining the roads. The championship contenders Neuville and Ogier are currently equal on points, and should be the ones to watch, especially on Sunday.

Strong performance by Tanak over the weekend. He is increasingly looking like a championship contender. A strong second for Mikkelsen as well, and Ogier takes the championship lead again. I wish we had more of Fridays weather though.

The silly season start now with a lot of drivers expecting they will have contracts in place over the summer break. Not sure what movement we will see. Hanninen is at risk, but has looked better these few past rallies. Could be replaced by Sunninen, and Tidemand takes his spot at M-Sport. Mikkelsen will probably get a seat, and they could potentially keep rotating the drivers like this year. I would maybe think they drop Lefebre though I guess a lot rests on weather both Tanak and Ogier stays at M-Sport. Ogier has said that he would stay, but expressed doubt if they can afford him without Ford sponsorship. Citroen is probably the only realistic alternative. I don't see the Hyundai roster changing much.

Its been a good season, and Wales was cool. Great rally by Evans making it 7 different winners this year.

Its sucks that M-Sport looks like it could be gutted for next year after winning both championships. Tanak has already signed with Toyota, and Ogier might go to Citroen. Granted, Citroen has financial issues of its own, but they have UAE royal family support that could probably pony up, whereas M-Sport get nothing from Ford.
