If you're going to draft a quarterback to sit on the bench and develop why would you not keep Cutler?

The Bears are now arguably the most talent-poor roster in the NFL and good returns on one or two drafts is optimistic but isn't going to keep me from having to watch some really lovely football for the foreseeable future

Fox and Pace have had two full seasons to gut the roster and rebuild. This coming season is yet another season of gutting the roster and rebuilding?

What is going on in Chicago?

Since firing Lovie Smith, who coached Chicago to a Super Bowl, another NFCCG, and six playoff appearances in total (out of nine seasons) and a 81-63 record (0.563, better than Jauron's 0.438 and Wannstedt's 0.417), the Bears have gone 22-42 (0.344) over four seasons.

The Bears have lost Alshon Jeffery, Brandon Marshall, Matt Forte, Charles Tillman, Jay Cutler, among a few more players that don't come to mind immediately, and in their place they've acquired: ... a 31 year old Josh Sitton? Danny Trevathan's ruptured knee? At least you have Kyle Long and Pernell McPhee.

Tate is a smart and funny dude so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here. A shitload of folks would wear those hats as a joke early in Trump's campaign.

I'm a UW-Mad alumni and I have a Wisconsin hat that's red with white lettering (It says, "W - Wisconsin Fencing") and I've stopped wearing it around because people would shake their heads and mutter darkly when they see me at a distance wearing it.

I'm happy that people in Wisconsin feel strongly enough about the piss nazi to recognize these hats at a distance but a little sad that I probably can't ever wear that cap around ever again in my life. Can't imagine what it's like for Tate who wore the actual cap.

House is a 3CB. Ted is basically gambling that one of Rollins/Randall will be able to step up and be a 1CB.

This does not seem likely.

Gunter's primary weakness is that he's slow. No matter how much coverage talent he flashes he'll always be limited by that. He'll end up a fine CB2 or CB3 in a few years but he will never be able to adequately cover the Dez Bryants or Julio Jones of the NFL. Maybe if he transitioned to safety but that won't happen in the near future in the Packers' defensive scheme.

not only did the bears panic and overpay for a quarterback, they also were so stealthy about this same quarterback that they 1. didn't have him come in for personal workouts 2. didn't meet with him 3. didn't call him to tell him he was going to be drafted

I'm curious who the Bears would have drafted (or who you would have wanted the Bears to draft) instead if they'd stayed put at 3.

I think the jury's still out on Trubisky as a quarterback but the jury is definitely not out on the trade being very very funny and Trubisky being a Packers and tittiess fan.

I can't see Fox lasting past this season. Do you think Pace has his eye on some young offensive coordinator who will be able to coach up Trubisky?

Reddit comment about Kevin King:

quote:

He has the best SPARQ (Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction and Quickness) of any corner in the draft. It's a metric of athleticism developed by Nike. Pete Carroll was one of the first to rely on it heavily and TT seems to have been using it in recent years.

King ranks in the 99th percentile for overall athleticism at corner. Not among prospects, but among all NFL corners. That's CRAZY. Although in this draft there are 11 prospects ranked in the 90th percentile of the NFL, which is one of the reasons this draft has been hyped as a gold mine of talent at corner.

I liked a lot of the athleticism, but I didn't like a lot of the negatives. It just seemed like that was a down part for me.

However, with that said, there's a lot of upside, and I could see a couple guys being moderate play makers in two to five years.

Wisconsin literally can't get its budget out of the Joint Finance Committee because Scott Walker wants to borrow $850 million to cover the shortfall from his proposed tax cuts and meaningless spending increases to public education, and insists he'll veto any budget that has new taxes or fee hikes without offsetting tax cuts, and Assembly Republicans have grown a pair and said, "Wait, what the gently caress is wrong with you?" (Specifically, the Assembly wants to raise fees on large truck registrations, and wants to implement highway tolling.)

The budget was due by last Saturday, by the way.

Ugh I didn't know things had gotten that bad, I've been completely out of the loop on local politics thanks to the past half year.
