Hey new guy! Welcome to the Something Awful Let's Play forum. Here, we share the games we are playing so that we can all share in the experience. There are a few rules though! You should probably check out the rules of this forum to learn more! It should be noted that while people who post their gameplay may get views, likes, and subscribers from this forum, that is not and should never be the reason for this forum's existence. Also, just a minor point of ire, but did you really admit in the first 30 seconds of that video that you couldn't be bothered to play the game so you had someone else play it for you? That's... kind of concerning! But there's too much hatred in the world so instead of saying something snarky I'll just wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Off the top of my head: * You don't need to be constantly talking. Some dead air is fine. Post-commentary helps because it lets you better figure out what to say. * Swears are loving fine and all, but you kinda go overboard with them. Probably part of the constant talking. Try not to force humor as it always falls flat when forced. * The subtitles are distracting as hell. I can hear what you say relatively fine, and the stuff you tend to subtitle are the weaker parts of your commentary. It's not too terrible, I think the main thing is getting more practice with commentary and cutting the subtitles. Your editing's not too shabby at least, jumps around a bit too much but at least there's effort involved.

This is actually pretty terrible. There's no lead in regarding what this game is, what the mechanics are, why you're playing the trial as opposed to just waiting for the actual game, what's a visitor, what's the poo poo you're picking, or literally anything going on. Your commentary style is more akin to someone talking to themselves rather than trying to deliver information or jokes to an audience. Also it kinda seemed like there was background noise in your audio or like you had turned up your audio way too loud and it was getting blown out by the mic. And why did you show the PS4 home screen for like 3 seconds at the start, then cut to the game and then immediately cut to somewhere else in the game? Also I find the best method to building a fanbase is not to come out and say "Hey guys, I want a fanbase and that's why I'm here; like, share, subscribe!"; it's to put in effort and poo poo depending on where you're posting. Maybe this might be better received in just the casual thread or if you wanted feedback maybe the sandcastle; but as it's own thread, it's mostly just you schilling for views and will mostly likely get ignored.

A few things to note: 1. Your commentary kinda sucks. Usually when you play games for an audience you might want to have your commentary to be as if there is someone with you and not come off like you were recorded secretly. This is usually done by talking directly to your proposed audience like they were in the room with you and if you just started the game then explaining things like we haven't seen it before. Talk about who you are what the game is and what's going on. Heck if you feel you can't do solo commentary then bring a friend in so you have someone to work off of. As it was put earlier live commentary may not be the way to go and therefore post commentary would be the route to go. It can make things easier because it allows you to talk about what's coming up and you aren't necessary reliant on being in the now and help articulate what you want to say. 2. Your editing needs work. I have no idea why you started with the PS4 screen or the reason you jumped right into the middle of the action just after, nor can I fathom why you decided to jump around like you did. I assume that level was around a half hour but you wanted to cut it to eight minutes like a highlight reel. Which would be fine and all but you never say anything to that effect and all anybody is left with is a jumbled mess with no clear direction of where you are in the stage because you keep cutting from spot to spot. The subtitles weren't really necessary and when they did show, they weren't on screen long enough to even be able to read the majority of them. 3. Lastly, If you really want to make a quality product then perhaps you should look at some of the other threads here. Observe how others do their initial post and their videos. Learn from the experience of others and use that to make your thread and video better. Because frankly what you have here isn't good. Hopefully this helps you and maybe next time around you will have improved.

Hello, Mr Gaming, if that is in fact your real name; I don't know why you keep trying to close this thread. Well... actually I do know, or at least I have a pretty good idea - you evidently did not expect it to go the way it did. To be honest, this wasn't what I expected either; I expected a parade of somewhat meaner-spirited responses than what you got, and to have to disappear the whole thing myself. Instead, you've received a stream of actual honest-to-god advice, advice that will substantially improve both the quality of your videos and your reception here if taken to heart. What I'm trying to say here, really is this; we believe in you! We think you are capable of better than this. We're taking a chance on the idea that whatever chain of investigation bought you here and encouraged you to spend ten actual real-life dollars registering on these forums was a desire for betterment and not just for some more viewership numbers, and while we are proud to provide a platform on which quality-minded creators can boost their engagement, that does mean we kinda sorta have to insist on a baseline of quality sometimes, and this is one of those times. Go read the rules, really take them in, and if you want more advice, you won't even need to hit up the Sandcastle until you're ready for a full-fledged second attempt (and that will be a complete LP of a released game, please); this thread is already full of people who will happily give you full and frank critiques. If we're wrong, and you don't really care for betterment, well, you know where the door is. I mean, this is a website, the door is all around you!. I regret that this process is going to have to wait a day because you're about to eat a probation for messing with the New LP Thread Thread. Sorry, man, my hands are tied on this. Well, I don't believe in you, OP, you piece of poo poo thread starting rear end in a top hat. I clicked on this thread expecting that guy who claimed to be the FIRST TRUE LET'S PLAYER and how slowbeef stole his valor and robbed him of his dignity and pride like a common crook in the night. Instead I get some garbage about LP advice and apparently you didn't even play the game yourself??? You removed the video so I can't verify that for myself, but poor, poor form for removing anything you've ever done. You let that steaming refuse stay out in the sun forever to stand as a marker in time for how far you've progressed since then, not ashamedly hide it away like a porn mag. IMO, half of one star out of five stars, would not subscribe, it was okay based purely on the effort posts of people after you.

That was a bad video. This forum is not built on making LP superstars. There are people who have gained significant popularity here because of the quality of their LP's, but they didn't just show up and start gaining followers. Lurk more, get a feel for this community, then post in the sandcastle. If you want your content to stand out, you need to really work on it. As it stands, what you've shown us is no different from any other wannabe youtube superstar.
