finally getting a chance to play lost judgement this weekend, on chapter 2 now. i have the "detective essentials" dlc with my basic ps5 purchase that added the dates, bonus items, and master system games. am i missing anything rn without having the $35 dlc that will eventually have a playable kaito story? kinda confused at the difference between the two

i've advanced as far as i can in the dance club storyline (won second competition) and apparently i have to increase my stats to follow through to the next step. the guide i googled recommended the robotics club, and amasawa herself suggested joining other clubs. the the robotics room is empty tho and nothing happens when i enter or leave. do i have to advance to a farther point in the main plotline or do it at a different time of day? it's late afternoon on chapter 4.

I was expecting stat raises to be by quest completion but they're actually just 'every time you try the activity' so if you blow through the dances perfectly you aren't quite high enough level to unlock robotics. at least the guide i read said that you just needed to beat the second compition tho it could be wrong. i'm level 2 in the two stats the dance club raises

i had a break of a couple months p early on after starting lost judgement before i went back to it. amazing game and i'm getting close to the end but how the hell do i throw smoke bombs in the stealth segments? i have a few in my inventory but can never figure out how to use them edit: i figured out the trick necessary to advance in this storyline stealth section where i couldn't throw a coin but i still assume there's supposed to be some use for them. was also trying to figure that out during the last photography club mission Thauros fucked around with this message at 23:07 on Jan 24, 2022 |

Y4 is kinda bad about warning you wrt points of no return, I think Akiyama hits the “it’s raining, no substories” cutoff well before the end of his stuff in particular. i got into the series when 0 was first released and proceeded to buy a used ps3 to play 4 and 5 as this was years before the remastered copies. 3 was physical only and i heard the localized version sucked so i skipped that one until the remastered. because of this my play order was 0-4-5-k1-6-k2-3-7. the saejima story was the stuff i was most invested in with 4 as it was the only thing i really had the background on. it is indeed dumb as hell but more than as an excuse to let him return i think just like they'll never let the pc stay in the yakuza for more than the intro chapter they'll also never let the pc kill anyone no matter how contrived it gets even if the intent was there and it took place before the games.

not going to entirely disagree as the hostess management stuff was bad in in the earlier games and amazing in 0 and y2 but i guess i'd still rather see that stuff generally intact. mahjong owns

finally started kaito files. kinda bummed at the lack of substories/minigames as the side poo poo is so much the point of these things to me. kaito's combat owns tho and the storyline seems solid if nothing particularly groundbreaking if you've played all of these as i have. hope they can come to terms with yagami's va's agency and don't have to do a full protag switch but having both be playable in judgement 3 would be cool.

Thauros posted:how are they gonna retcon it so that kazama never actually killed anyone? easy now that i think about it for a couple minutes given the studio. kazama is forced into exile from the tojo clan due to shibusawa and/or awano framing him. the antagonists hire a hitman who undergoes plastic surgery to look like kazama and take his position to conceal internal strife from the omi. kazama eventually clears his name and shimano kills the body double after the climatic fistfight. kazama agrees to protect the clan's secret and pretend it was him all along but out of guilt for being unable to stop the murders in his name from occurring forms the orphanage to ensure that the children are taken care of. if they actually do this 75% of my semi-joke post is gonna happen, i love those games so much but certain things are kinda predictable by this point

i stayed in kabkicho in 2019 as it was cheap and would recommend. you really can navigate it if you have kamurocho ingrained in your memory as i'm sure everyone here does. the real life golden gai is exactly where the champion district is and is cool as hell. if you're a single male traveler you will get regularly propositioned by sex workers and touts at night but that's true of a lot of places. and if you do get suckered into a clip joint or something, just wait for a dude in a grey suit to save your rear end and then hand him a ¥2000 yen bill or an energy drink. easy! when does tomiawa's first drink link or drink links in general get unlocked? i did a bynch of side stuff in chapter four and have his bond at level 35 at the start of chapter 5. "Drink Link:Tomizawa Episode 1" is still listed as "Unable to Progress" under tasks. do i still need to progress in the main story or is there something else i missed

Last Celebration posted:cast a popular western live actor for one of the antagonists, i'm playing the japanese version with subtitles since its an rgg game and it was just weird to me when i tried the dub for 15 minutes. when i got to that point i thought "that guy looks so clearly based on danny trejo that he could probably sue" assuming that trejo wasn't actually involved since his english language lines in the japanese voiced version aren't said by him. only learned a week ago of his involvement and how guys like him and bryce have completely different VAs even when they speak english.
