Trump's obsession with gold is indeed gaudy but the Trump towers are actually interesting to look at and feel like something you'd live in rather than just a cold post-modernist art piece with sofas and retro lamps in it.

Another incredibly funny side effect of the Trump administration are the americans who are now constantly crying about how this is the end of the world. How insular and self-centered do you have to be to equate your country's decline with the destruction of the entire civilized world. Yeah Trump is doing bad things but you do realize that outside your borders there are still tons of countries that are progressing and improving every day?

This is GOOD. Trump will completely cripple america's government and economy and even after he's done america's reputation will be in gutter for possibly decades. Yanks had their great century but with this massive decline they will be nothing more than another has been super power, no better than the loving russians. I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone in the EU mention what a great opportunity this is. People will once again look to Europe as the height of civilization, technology and industry. The cost is great of course, but the cause is even greater.

I also thought this whole electoral collage thing was dumb as hell, but I now see that it actually worked perfectly. Trump embodies all the core american values. The election system, in retrospect, did exactly what it was designed to do.

Trump is a terrible politician but this Korea thing is exactly the kind of situation he's good at. NK released prisoners and made tons of concessions to get this meeting to happen and now Trump just pulls the carpet from under them. Jung-Un got played badly. I guess we'll see if the norks are willing to strike back at the US for this. This is definitely a gamble from the Trump admin but it might work.
