What the gently caress is "whip blame"?

I'm guessing it originally said "責め" or something and the auto-translate went with the "blame" interpretation instead of the "torture" one. Not sure why since it does seem to have gotten it right twice, but I don't know what it said originally so they could've used different kanji or something?

if i had to guess, it's because phrases like dog-man torture don't naturally appear in dictionaries (... as opposed to shock torture or waterboarding? :raise:) so it just goes "uhh word + 責め"

I want to say that "crotch rope torture" isn't something you find in a Japanese dictionary either, but something tells me that it isn't as unlikely as I want to think.

IMO, there is a difference between an adult playing the role of a minor and a minor playing the role of a minor. I can only imagine how people like that would react to seeing Monty Python's gig with children singing "every sperm is sacred".

My dad had a VHS tape that was just an advertisement tape for the Commodore Amiga 500. I used to watch that every so often because it was just so cool to 7 year old me, and seemed a lot more advanced than our Commodore 128 (that we pretty much used just in C64 mode for games).

Except it was dubbed in Norwegian, of course.

Wow, this really was the poo poo when I was 6-7 years old. Shame I only had the VHS tape and not an actual Amiga though :v:

Crossdressing Shrine might have been a "better" title, but since people in the VN community generally don't seem to consider "trap" a slur that's probably why they went with that.

Uhhh, I don't think anyone considers "Crossdressing" a slur, though?
Not that I know of, no? If it's me putting "better" in quotes you're referring to, what I meant was that the title itself might be better, but the VNs premise and, well, quality, wouldn't change. Not that I have anything but the synopsis and current title to go on when it comes to judging the quality of it. And the ever exciting VNDB tags.

Taciturn Tactician posted:

Also at least a subsection of people the VN community absolutely do consider it a slur, The Royal Trap was renamed to Confines of the Crown after it was pointed out that the title could be read as a transphobic description of one of the characters.

Yes, but the main difference between Confines of the Crown and Trap Shrine is that the latter has porn, and is pretty much centered around the porn, and then you're entering a very different subset of the VN community. Not to mention that Confines of the Crown is made by Hanako, while Trap Shrine is made by a Japanese developer who has made exclusively titles that are about crossdressing sex.

*Edit*

I should probably not have used the term "VN community" in my last post because I was mostly referring to the crowd that hangs out at the VNDB forums, and oh boy are there some people there who are very angry about "SJWs" and feminists. The moderators and admins are pretty decent folks, but the moderation is lax and some of the discussions in there make me back away from the screen when I read them.

I could definitely go for a sequel to Long Live the Queen with more of everything, especially the game being longer and with more time for all the different skills to see some use. My main complaint with LLTQ (and the Magical Diary games) is that there's a lot of skills, but the game's length doesn't really let them feel like you've made a long-term impactful choice. They're each usually used for 1 or 2 checks and then the game is kind of over. Granted, that one check might be the difference between life and death in LLTQ, but still :v:

I appreciate that it would be a tremendous amount of work for a tiny (single person?) indy outfit to make something like what I want though.
