Leave the game playing for actual videogames!!

Okay, thanks. When I say fiddle I just mean looking at what funds my money is going into and thinking about each year of my life until 2050 and getting that middle class depression, but you've provided a lot of good advice. I'll take a serious look at the Vanguard Target Retirement fund you linked.

Yeah those apps are good for people who can't get themselves to save because it does it automatically, but if you are committed to putting money away and have the leeway, might as well try to minimize the middleman and deposit it in big chunks. Acorns makes it money through fees just like any other investment firm, and also probably from taking advantage of those pennies before they get officially invested for you.

If you are a government employee you are probably in the Thrift Savings Program, which is basically the same as any private 401(k) except you pay less in expenses. You can have an IRA on top of that. Also if you are having a child you may want to look into the various savings programs like a Coverdell ESA or 529.

The difference between a Traditional and Roth IRA is when you get taxed. In a traditional, any money you sock away is not taxed, meaning that lowers your taxable income now. However when you withdraw it down the line, it will be taxable income. With a Roth IRA you do not lower your current taxable income, but withdrawals in the future are not taxed.

Thanks for this, too. I hadn't heard of the Coverdell ESA or 529 funds but I will. Looking over some of the initial investment requirements, I should probably hit that 3-6 month salary savings first. I appreciate the assistance; I'll mull it over.

They call it Final Fantasy because it's a name you immediately know, and if you haven't been following game news but hear that Final Fantasy XVI is about to be released it reminds you of the previous games and hopefully gets you interested. They draw from a shared pool of characters and themes, and because the Final Fantasy name holds a lot of clout they can funnel barrels of cash into the project while another team works on more traditional turn-based RPGs like the Bravely series. And nothing says the next FF game won't go back to a turn-based format, but how far back should it go? Allies on the right, enemies on the left? Swooping camera? Should it include an Auto button that makes the tactical choices for you? Action RPG like Lightning Returns? Programmable behaviors like FFXII?

Luckily, almost every game in the series was made with care and the quality means that you can always return to them. Aside from maybe two titles, none are devoid of any redeeming features, and since they make for a diverse catalogue not liking VIII doesn't mean you won't like IX. We're fortunate to live in a world with a pool of solid RPGs under the Final Fantasy umbrella.

But you already knew this. Time is a cycle that can be measured in "moments since everyone talked about their opinions on a popular series" and "moments until everyone talks about their opinions on a popular series." It's like the forums are breathing.

It's a great MMO that really improved after a very rocky start. The Fall and Rise of Eorzea is a good video series about how bad it was before A Realm Reborn. Seriously, go find a picture of one of the area maps before the reboot and marvel at its endless grid of identical boxes.

When I played, I did so on the PS4 with a controller. Playing a Monk class that way was very fun and more engaging than I would have though given my experience with other MMOs. I mean, it's still repetitive and you're going to be using the same set of skills over and over and over again, but I could easily lose myself in the game for hours doing Leves or quests. I got burnt out in the series of fetch quests that buffer the story between the end of ARR and the first expansion.

There's also an english G Generation game (G Generation Genesis) if that is your bag, as well as an english-translated Original Generation game (Moon Dwellers) though the latter's translation is noticeably more poor than the other two.

I've dabbled with translated patches of the SNES one and I think the GBA one (if there is a GBA one, idk). I'm not a big enough anime fan to get all the references but I admire the bombastic combat scenes. I also have a hard time with the core strategy game tactic of baiting by leaving one unit out for the enemy to attack, like APCs in Advance Wars, so I tend to take more casualties than I'd like. Still, if it was cheaper than $80 to give it a whirl I definitely would.

I'm pretty sure the android naming convention in Neir 2 signifies their role. 9S is a support character, 6O and 21O are Operators, and there's a 2A character I would classify as Assault or Aggressive. With that in mind, I think Neir 2 stars a character name "To Battle" and I think that's pretty cool. I won't be surprised if there's a Shakespeare reference too but I'd prefer it if the plot was about sending the android To Battle to battle with the objective to battle.

Bunch of ninnies in this thread. If I turn on a game and don't achieve a half-mast erection within the first 20 minutes the game's a dud. I should never be more than 10 button presses away from an upskirt shot, any time a character is introduced it should focus on their rear end and cleavage first (and if it's a boy ew get out of my game go find some yuri junk to gross up dude), and all movement and combat sound effects should sound ripped from a heavily pixelated porn. I want special scenes of each character with their clothing damaged and with tears in their eyes. I want to pay $10 for swimsuit costumes and I want to spend quality time moving the camera in a way that makes the digital character uncomfortable. I want games with a diverse cast of characters who are all between 18 and 35, white with huge knockers. I'm okay with characters looking younger so long as they are a demon or a witch or something and actually much older, but I will always prefer a character who bends over a lot and wears revealing clothing but isn't bothered by it. I want my games to have mandatory bath scenes and for the artists to challenge themselves by censoring the characters with as few soapy suds and possible. I want mini games where I and touch and poke my characters anywhere I want and for however long I want, and I want to be called "teacher" or "big brother" while I do this. I want a game where I can never be sure where the official art ends and the fan made porn begins.

Fortunately for me, I have no shortage of games that cater to my special tastes.

I think about this too sometimes. Like, take a copy of the upcoming Mario or Zelda titles and step back to 1989 and show your younger self. Part of me thinks that it would be too advanced to the point where the viewer can't even understand what they are watching. Like stories of Aztecs not being able to see the Spanish boats on the water until they were practically landed because they had no frame of reference for what was approaching. Its similar to Life Is Strange with the ages of the protagonists, the thoughtful personal interactions, and the tinge of fantasy realism. Night in the Woods hasn't hit any supernatural elements quite like LiS yet, although I think it's coming. So far it's a lot of walking and talking with some jumping, flavored with side elements of Guitar Hero and Hyper Light Drifter. I think that if you do not see the humor in the word "adulting" you probably won't enjoy the game, but it has good characters and dialogue and honestly you already know if the game is something you're into.

It never, ever occured to me that those moves would get removed in the full game. The original RCR has a comparable number of starting moves, but the game is built around enemies getting naturally stunned, which allows you to do knockdown moves. This game's knockdowns come almost entirely from the combos you execute, so taking those combos out means enemies just don't fall, which is insane.

This was really noticeable when switching from Paul after I had learned a few moves to Provie with basically nothing. Just a kick and chop that don't really combo well. It's also kind of a bummer that there's no notification for what the level requirements for the learnable moves are, so when I save up enough scratch for Viper Bite and run through a dozen screens only for the guy to be like "nope" i wasn't thrilled. I also have a problem with the way moves are listed in the menu, at least for Paul. I bought a jab, a straight, and a hook and the command for all three is "punch". I think a slightly more detailed combo tree would help me reliably punch nerds in the optimal fashion. I'll PM you a few things I noticed for you to share with the backer board.

I'm a little critical of the game but it's far from broken. I trust Lurdiak's opinion that the developers will be able to iron out the wrinkles in time. My advice would be to head west to the sauna once you get free rein, as it increased my max HP by 50% for $5.50. Then find the park that connects to the sewer and use those screens to grind out some cash.
