Isn't there a good chance Beagle will be unprotected too? I know he's just a 4th line plug but he's probably one of the top 3 plugs in the league. Losing Grubauer would suck but the Caps have plenty of goaltending depth in the pipeline with Vanacek and Samsonov. Worst case scenario would be losIng Orlov to expansion draft and Alzner to free agency. McPhee could target them both.

Half of the players in the Gretzky-era NHL were snorting coke and chugging vodka between periods, and focused most of their energy on murdering each other. The puck was of secondary importance. Gretzky was really good at paying attention to the puck.

Burakovsky out til Mid-March. Hopefully Vrana is the first plug. Could be Sanford though. That line's production has been a huge part of this recent run. I hope Eller and Connolly can keep it going with whoever.

I'd pick Jeff Carter as MVP at this point based on the argument "which NHL playoff team probably would not make the playoffs without this player on their roster". 21% of the Kings goals. Kopitar has been awful and they would suck without him.

Too bad about Fast. When I saw that hit I was thinking, "man Ovie - clean hit but are you trying to break his shoulder?". Seemed like an unnecessarily violent collision and Fast turned away from it awkwardly.
