New York is a terrible place to get into politics. Everywhere you go outside of working class NYC is run by a machine of some sort. The north shore of LI is pretty much a closed-door plutocratic boys club. The south shore is a loving Mob fief, too. Now I live in Buffalo, and the loving Mayor runs as a Democrat and a Republican AT THE SAME TIME. Aaaaaaghhhh
