i thought one of stadias big problems was that it was real hard to get game companies to develop/license their aaa titles for it, because if stadia took off then google would have a huge stranglehold over game distribution and game companies were not interested in creating something akin to the what the record labels did with the original itunes store agreement. google tried to get around this by going into first-party game development themselves but got distracted and shut it down (or, more likely, saw just how long and how expensive it would be to bootstrap themselves into a proper aaa game studio) the technology worked well, its just google had no idea how to build a business model for it. which seems pretty on-brand for google

the first galaxy fold (with the famous load-bearing screen protector) came out in april 2019 four and a half years later and the phones are still expensive fragile crease-bearing pieces of poo poo that can be disabled by stray flecks of grit i assume apple has a whole lab of prototype foldable iphones that will never be released because the underlying technology is just too unreliable

the smart home was a "neat idea, if they can ever work the kinks out of it" thing in the 1970s (when you could buy x.10 devices at radio shack) fifty years (and, like, a trillion times more processing power thanks to moores law) it remains a "neat idea, if they can ever work the kinks out of it" thing
