Whooping Crabs posted:Packers just cut Sam Shields, even though he still says that he wants to play. Please retire Sam, you got a ring and got paid, now enjoy the rest of your life before it's too late Abugadu posted:I could use a small ray of sunshine in an otherwise miserable year by having the Bears trade some high picks for Jimmy G, let's make this happen. Sammy is having a minor (yet highly understandable) meltdown: Honestly I'm kind of loving concerned about the Packers and concussion/neck injuries. They had to pull the same stunt with Finley too because Finley wouldn't voluntarily retire, he wanted to keep playing just like Shields.

Grittybeard posted:Artificial playing surfaces now are...at least closer to natural as far as running on them goes. They have their own problems of course (rubber pellets getting into your eyes seems really annoying), but overall I'd guess it's an improvement. I remember back in college playing lacrosse on a turf field and a week later digging out one of these black pellets from an ear fold in the shower. I hated playing on turf.

Febreeze posted:Its probably the commercials more than the between play pauses. Always thought football did a good job filling the gaps between plays with quality replay and commentary analysis, but the obscene numbers of repetitive commercial breaks are such a turn off in an age where streaming exists. Yeah, it's this. I have never had an issue with the between-play stuff and almost everyone who I get to watch football with me hasn't had an issue with it (even if they cite the whole "only 11 minutes of actual playing in 3 hours! how can you watch that!"), the game moves so fast when they're actually playing that replays are great for understanding what happened and what's happening. I would probably go back to watching four football games a week if they cut way down on the commercial breaks. As it is I just watch the Packers and maybe the SNF game if it's good.

Pops Mgee posted:Is he still actually good? Was he just dogging it this year because Jets, or has he fallen off a cliff? I really don't think Revis would fit in well with the Packers locker room. Also come on man, Ted categorically refuses to go after splashy FA signings. He's been doing this for twelve years!! The Packers are going to sign someone washed up and a promising underachiever 3 days after all the "names" have been signed.
