Doronin posted:He's only about 20% body fat. It was part of his last weigh in, which puts him at the low-end of what is considered normal for a healthy adult male. We're really trying to get him down to around 380, because we don't want him to lose his flexibility. The espn article described that he had limited training background, yet he's hang cleaning close to 300 with nothing to it? Like, ignoring the lunacy of the weight number, just the idea of being close to 400 pounds with the bend to do that is just.... Please tell me there's a package for him at like NT where he just throws the C backwards hoping to hit the ballcarrier in the backfield. Like, I really want to see what he does when he's trying to tackle people, not just blocking.

The SI Article about IMG"s preposterously large lineman just dropped here. The best parts of the article: - Picture of what a blocking sled looks like next to him - The story of him playing punch and hold technique and somehow grabbing the defender's collarbone hard enough he went limp - Brent Venables asking him to stand by the door because his staff wouldn't actually believe how large he is. Seriously, play him at T and let him destroy people in a pro-style offense run like Harbaugh or Shaw, or give me the blood I want and make him a 0-tech who just collapses both A-gaps every single play. Alternatively, let him go to Hawaii and watch Mountain West coaches shake their heads trying to block him with O-lines averaging like 280 and D-lines averaging 250.

5* DT Taron Vincent to Ohio State over FSU. Super stoked to have another DT. Only worry is that he looks more like a 3-tech than a 1-tech which is where the vast majority of the guys on the roster already are.

Crotch Bat posted:4* QB DeJuan Ellis de-committed from VT like 4 days ago and re-committed today in an incredibly weird recruitment. In a bizarre turn, this is a QB who actually sees himself as a WR or DB at the next level and was concerned he wouldn't be able to play those positions at VT. I'm assuming wires were somehow crossed and Fuente basically gave him carte blanche as to what he wants to do because he came back into the fold tonight. Usually with QB/ATH it's the other way around where they want to play QB. Same thing happened to OSU with Tristen Wallace like a year ago. Urban thought they could coach him up as a qb and fix his accuracy, ended up that he went with Oregon instead to go play receiver

Malik Hooker's 3* brother Marcus just committed to Ohio State. He's a little smaller than Malik but still expected to be a safety/nickel type. Honestly, on tape, he might even turn out to be a slot guy on offense with how effing hard it is to tackle him for only being 180 pounds.

lamentable dustman posted:this Trevor Lawrence kid is gonna be pretty good imo That's a cannon arm. The only thing I thought he could work on from last night was that he pulls his arm back a lot farther than he needs to, which isn't a Tebow wind-up by any means, but is the type of thing that causes fumbles when you get hit and some batted passes.

Regnevelc posted:It's looking like QB Shea Patterson, WR Van Jefferson, and Safety Deontay Anderson will be coming to Michigan. How many of them are eligible immediately? Because if Patterson isn't playing next season, I can't see him faring much better than O'Korn has transferring into that system.

Regnevelc posted:They all are expecting to win their appeals and be eligible for next year. Not doubting the talent side of that at all. To clarify, O'Korn looked like an awesome transfer until he ended up trying to run a completely alien system to him going from air raid to Harbaugh's stuff. Patterson's been running Freeze's high school offense for 2 years so far. He's probably going to end up better, but I'm not going to be shocked if he fails to beat out a Peters or McCaffrey on that roster that's been around for a little longer, given that it's a massive massive learning curve.

4* DT Tommy Togiai and 4* WR Kamryn Babb both pick Ohio State. Class really really needs a DE now but this might end up being a better class than last year’s somehow, which seems impossible.

Missing on Carman sucks, but I can't say I'm shocked when he's been pretty adamant about hating the idea of people assuming he's an OSU lock. He's not the best personality fit with Urban, but he seems like he'd be a perfect fit with Dabo. Losing Jones was honestly expected at this point, and Baldwin is basically the ideal off-year QB for us, where he's at worst a competent game manager that can backup a Haskins/Martell type comfortably. Woodbey would suck to lose, but we've got enough DBs on the roster. I don't get the scout-types melting down about losing 3 guys, when the roster is stacked at those positions already.

sportsgenius86 posted:I was upset about losing Woodbey until I saw the ceremony. Boy was that loving interesting. Yeah, uh, the Jack Carman comments were weird and bad, like "wants less pressure" and "Urban's old" being things is a really bizarre way of framing that you want to go to a school that won the title last year with a coach 4 years older than Meyer. That said, I can understand him just feeling more comfortable and at home at Clemson and wanting to go there, rather than have everyone assume he's a Buckeye because he's from Ohio (which is such a dumb loving thing in the age of Urban recruiting nationally and especially considering he's from the part of the state that cares the absolute least about OSU). Woodbey's ceremony was quite literally the worst thing I've ever watched a recruit do for a commitment. Like, oh my god why would you ever think it's a good idea to grab your idiot friends on a live feed and promote your twitter handles and shady AAU-type poo poo. Like, Seantrel Henderson and Bryce Brown didn't manage that level of inanity, and that's really saying something. I wish I could place a prop bet on him DMing that FSU porn star Chad Kelly-style within the next two weeks, because that appears to be the level of smart he is.

Joey Freshwater posted:This kid went from unknown to #190 in the nation and a 4* overnight. Literally every single one of his predictions came out yesterday. His tape is preposterous. No idea how that guy wasn't heard from before. Ohio State picks up 4* DE/DT Tyler Friday out of Don Bosco in NJ, who was a huge Michigan lean up until about a month ago. It's apparently expected that we have 3-4 more recruits coming this cycle, which seems impossible based on the sheer lack of attrition this year, but I guess that means we have some unannounced transfers still in the wings. 4* LBs Chris Oats and Jevontae Jean-Baptiste are still targets as are OTs Nick Petit-Frere and Rasheed Walker. Apparently Urban is also considering a 3rd RB which seems ridiculous given the depth there right now. Might be an intention to convert him to safety or slot there.

4* LB/DE Javontae Jean-Baptiste to Ohio State. Lol, this class is preposterous. Whiff on Parsons and Oweh, end up with Smith, Friday, Jean-Baptiste and a development guy regardless. Whiff on a bunch of tackles and sign the #1 guy at the last second.

Eltoasto posted:Umm sorry but an instate guy didn't pick us, so I think you will find that this class is a letdown and Urbz has lost it. (Buckeye fan reactions around the early signing day were ridiculous) Yeah, the freakout over Carman was weird, because it's far from unprecedented for a guy that caliber to want to leave the state. The more sane fans I know were just worried about OT and DE depth rather than the "OHIO KID" thing. Especially when you consider Urban's traditionally had the team around like 30% Ohio kids over the old Tressel 50%+ way. Much less, the sheer number of walk-ons this year that had other D1 offers is hilarious too. We have a walk-on receiver that outranks like 2-3 of Michigan's WR signees. #2 in light of the class Georgia put together is really really loving good.

Kim Jong Il posted:Parsons is good, and you lost him due to a self-own. My dude, did I say anything about Parsons not being good? We lost him because someone thought that Kirk should ever be used to recruit anything for any reason ever. Also, Franklin seems to think he's an MLB? Oweh could be a nightmare in the right hands (which Larry Johnson absolutely would have been, and Penn State's new guy currently might be). Jean-Baptiste's film looks basically like a high-potential, raw edge guy who needs to put on weight where he takes good angles and moves well but has like 2 moves and no heft. Whether that's a 3* or 4* is semantics, but the dude did ball out on his tape and looked pretty impressive in the all-star circuit this year too, so the idea that he's a commodity because of the early signing day isn't exactly warranted. Also, guy's in NJ, cold-weather state where spring ball isn't a thing and means development can take a bit longer. See them all the time in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, NY, etc. Mike_V posted:So did Barry Odom completely whiff on Missouri's best high school class ever? I think he maybe grabbed the #9 or 10 guy and that's it. Yeah, the fact that OSU pulled both Babb and Brown with an air-raid team in state is amazing. That dude is canned in like 6 months at this rate.
