A technical question about the assimilator/geyser gates: From what I understand, they work because the assimilator is slightly smaller than the geyser (and refineries/extractors are not). Is it possible for a protoss player to build a new assimilator on top of the geysers, and thus "reopen" the gate? If no, why not?

Finally got caught up on wednesday's games. Having twice as many games to watch is kind of annoying about the format change. One thing the Liquipedia preview doesn't point out is that the expansion spots have a sunken turret (from the indoor maps) in the Nexus spot, which you need detection to clear. Zerg can send over their starting overlord, Terran can build off-center and move it later, but Protoss basically have to settle for a permanently off-center Nexus (or have 0 expansions until observers are out). Also, we might actually see Devourers used in PvZ on this map?

Been looking at the maps at Liquipedia: https://liquipedia.net/starcraft/2020_AfreecaTV_Starleague_Season_10#Maps Looks like Plasma is going to be "the weird map" this tournament (that's a lot of eggs). Although Optimizer has two geysers in the main, which will probably result in some unusal strategies as well.
