Not an entry since this is not a picture taken for this challenge.

Think this is the only time I've ever actually purposely framed a picture for the car other than misc. garage pictures.

This is on US89A with the Vermillion cliffs in the background. West side of the Colorado river after crossing at Lees Ferry, just after entering the Kaibab National Forest, north of the Grand Canyon.

30 minutes or so after this picture, I got nabbed for 56 in a 40 by AZ DPS trooper who had no sense of humor at all and gave me a stern lecture on the danger of hitting a deer and careening off the road into the shrubbery where I wouldn't be found for weeks.

How is the trunk space and the stock handling? The Tercel isn't known for performance, but man these things are cool and relatively cheap

Trunk space is tiny. The rear seats are horrible but they fold down and instead of a little hole to the trunk a big panel slides out. Hanlding is good - brakes are terrible. Tiny front discs and rear drums.

They were built from 89 to 95

Greetings from the municipal swimming pool! The rock shower house was built during the depression as a WPA project. It's kinda neat. The pool itself is about 20 years old.

How about the patron saint of V8s?

Lighting is a bit atrocious because I took this shot after work yesterday but this is the Peter Brock Memorial at the base of Mt Panorama. It's possible to get closer by parking round the back but the back of the statue is completely featureless. I think I did this for the riding game as well actually, the other choice would've been the big gold panner which I've definitely done in the past.

In the spirit of repeats, :siren: Show us your happy place! Take a shot of your vehicle on your favourite local* driving road, or that spot you like to go to when you want to relax for a bit.

*Whatever your interpretation of local is fine. When I did this for the weekly riding game I did a 2 hour loop that took me 60km from town as the crow flies, because I live in a rural area and I was nowhere near any other major towns on the route.

For Aussies this is gold!

I can't post my photos from the last official invitatial day at the Brock Musuem up in CQ for copyright reasons (I was paid to shoot it). But I can tell you it was hilarious as it was a 'you have to own a HDT car over $x and be invited' affair. I turned up in my busted rear end VY ex-cop wagon. Pulling up and going through the queue of deserving patrons was a highlight of my life. Inside the museum was nutso. I think the only photo I got of myself was leaning on his raceboat, right next to his MiG.

I later got in touch with one of the Champions (surname) about losing the original Marlboro colour palletes. The company I worked for had the old values and swatches still (cigareete advertising is illegal here). The least I could do for seeing the real Big Banger - including the street sign beaten into a body panel from the inside.

Hi goons, so I took a picture and it comes with a bad story, because this is AI and we love driving. I didn't drive for about 2.5 years because I didn't need a car, but I've changed work now and drive every day. The place I've moved to has some wonderful roads and I've rediscovered how much I love driving. My facourite "happy place" road is in Canada, but seeing as I live elsewhere there are two bits of road here that I love. The first, unfortunately, is one where the weather hasn't cooperated so I don't have a picture of it, but I'll see if I can get one when the weather is better. The second is a place I went to for lunch with a colleague.

The first picture here is the from the bottom of the hill, you turn the corner at the top there.

and if the tide is out, you're presented with this:

I was riding shotgun with a coworker at the time, and I had one of the sharp-intake-of-breath moments because I was blown away. Waves cresting onto a giant sandy beach, the sun shining. It's a beautiful corner, and I'm happy there's a strangers driveway there where I could pull over and take the picture. The other bit I love is arguably more beautiful, and I have an even more boring story for that one, but sadly the weather didn't cooperate.

If anyone is still interested in playing the game, this should be a fairly easy one. I guess in the same vein of the date-your-car theme. Tell me why you love your car. Is your car beautiful? Do you hate seeing your significant other drive it away, but you love to watch it go? Is it rusty around the edges, but has a certain charm to it? We're car people. Tell me why your wife/husband gets jealous when you look at your car. Write me a sonnet about how the sound of the muffler scraping the road as you drive is like a bird singing on a spring morning. Why are you insane about your automobile, goon?

edit: I'm happy to go toe-to-toe with ilkhan, provided I get to present my other road :colbert:
I'd like to hear why goons love their cars, though.
