I don't get how you can be mad at this trade. Thomas can be penciled in as a 1b starter. With Dion Sims resigning you've got your two TE. Sims is a great blocker and strong receiver. Mediocre in athletic ability but he's produced when needed. I think Thomas can be better than Cameron on day 1.

That is changing now under Gase, general manager Chris Grier and executive vice president for football operations Mike Tannenbaum.

The team wants to keep its own players and not overpaying players that are coming in to the team this season.

The Dolphins and Jaguars continue talking about doing a deal for left tackle Branden Albert. Although that deal is close and Albert visited the Jaguars on Monday, that issue is separate and apart from the Thomas trade.

The Dolphins are expected to send the Jaguars a late 2018 draft pick in that trade.

I'm sure that's part of it, his catch % when targeted went from ~70% his last 2 years in Denver to 57-58% in Jacksonville. But I think it's pretty possible he's just an injury prone tight end that will put up around 500 yards and be a good red zone target for you in a good year.

Still, he's a massive upgrade for Miami even with that isn't he? Haven't they been just godawful at the position for like a decade?

Well hopefully not. If Stills was as good as he was supposed to be, then the Saints wouldn't have traded him and the Dolphins wouldn't let him walk after Year 1. I'd take him around $6 or $8 million as a WR3. But anything more is . Corey Davis/Kenny Stills/Jordan Matthews could be cool, but there's no guarantee Corey Davis is available when the Eagles pick at 14 or 15.

An older and way more talented DeSean Jackson on a cheaper deal would be a million times better than Stills on a bloated $12 million a year contract. We could probably get DeSean for $7 million even with him only having maybe another 2 good years left. Stills is just Treggs all over again. One big play and then disappears for the rest of the season.

I remember that time Chip wouldn't pay Maclin $11 million.
