Donald Trump is a consequence of millions of preppers who spent all of their money on rations, ammunition, and water filters, who now need to cause a global catastrophe to justify their purchases and therefore elected Trump. This purchasing behavior followed by the accelerated deconstruction of democracy is not exactly what Marx envisioned as the end of capitalism.

Is it shamefully single purpose if you have a waffle iron to press sandwiches but you never use it to make waffles?

At least you're using it for something I guess, but it's actually easier to just turn a knob and slab whatever you need warmed onto a pan and drunkenly stare at it while thinking about nuclear hellfire and why are you bothering to sustain yourself

The waffle shapes press into the bread and increase the butter to bread surface area ratio. You cannot get the same quality of fried sandwich out of a pan. It's not possible!

Why is this considered a big victory? What's preventing the GOP from trying again a month or two down the road?

Trump is supposed to be the pack leader / father figure, and his authority was directly challenged by Paul Ryan and the freedom caucus. It might not seem like a big deal to a functional adult, but all of Trump's power is built on this pack mentality. He looks weak and vulnerable and he isn't going to easily reestablish control over the party. Having this done so publicly is icing on the cake because the broke-brain voters who supported him are also operating on level.

most other features on cars do not kill other people. one of the more interesting psuedo-analyses the cartalk guys did was to cross-tab fatal car accidents by the models of cars involved, and then categorized a number of them as 'absurdly overpowered cars'. the definition was something like if they had more than 250 horsepower per ton, it was absurdly overpowered.

they found that a full 1/3rd of all fatal car accidents involved at least one car that was absurdly overpowered. if you throw out all fatal accidents where alcohol or drugs were a major contributing factor, the number went up even more.

Yeah but what proportion of cars qualify as absurdly overpowerd?
