Today, I have written to leaders of European socialist parties to coordinate lobbying, at every level of the EU, for the rights of British citizens abroad and to reaffirm Labour's commitment to the rights of EU residents in the UK.

As socialists, we must stand up for the rights of everybody - we must end the uncertainty and stop our fellow citizens being used as bargaining chips.

Our Manifesto Pledges

Royal Commission

We will campaign to convene a Royal Commission to undertake a fundamental review of all UK drugs policy to establish a suite of recommendations that can be effective in combatting the harm caused by drugs in an increasingly globalised world. The Royal Commission can be established in the first year of the new Parliament report in 2017 and its findings legislated on within the term of the next Parliament.

Global Medicinal Cannabis Summit

We will convene a Global Medicinal Cannabis Summit in London in 2015. This Summit will welcome over 50 countries and over 500 politicians, scientists, physicians, NGOs and civil society representatives from across the world to share latest research and public policy developments relating to medical consensus that patients with AIDS, cancer, epilepsy and serious access to cannabis. It will be the biggest global meeting on the subject ever convened.

Formal Government Review of Global Drug Reform Policy Innovations

We will initiate an immediate review to report on the effectiveness of the cannabis legalisation policy innovation in Spain, Portugal, United States, Uruguay and their impact on consumption, addiction and treatment and criminal activity.

Cost-benefit economic evaluation of potential legally regulated UK cannabis market

We will campaign to conduct an updated review of the cost-benefits of introducing a legally regulated cannabis market. There is a clear need for a better understanding of the demand for cannabis, which will only be achievable with better data on consumption, price and potency

I'm not entirely sure how someone is supposed to get a hostile press whose proprietors and editors are fundamentally opposed to your politics onside in how they portray you.

There have been studies which this thread has seen which have shown that Corbyn has time and time again been misrepresented in the media.

Baron Corbyn posted:

And yes, the media are obviously massively against Corbyn, but any Labour leader to the left of David Cameron is going to face that in this day and age, and unless you're planning on completely abandoning the democratic route to socialism, then we need to go d a leader who can deal with that effectively. I don't think it's impossible. Look at Bernie Sanders, the guy consistently beat his right wing adversaries in the opinion polls in a country far more averse to socialism than ours, which as Pissflaps likes to point out is something Corbyn has failed to do. Too bad his party went with a candidate that everyone knew was unpopular with voters. Labour should do the same imho.

Corbyn actually did better than Sanders i.e. he WON the Leadership contest.

The problem was the Labour Parliamentary Labour party didn't like this and decided to undermine him from the start and challenge him again with another leadership contest which he won.

In case you forgot Bernie Sanders did not win the democratic primary.

Also Sanders got lots of TV coverage for over a year, including the numerous Televised Debates where the public could see him on TV live, uncut and unedited.

Corbyn won two leadership contests and the PLP fought against him all the way.

One of the things the Tories are great at doing is rallying around their leader.

poo poo even the loving republicans are doing the same for Trump.

the PLP are so loving thick that they didn't realise having an anti-establishment figure, with populist left wing policies was an assest and have worked to gently caress him over since that initial election result.

Sanders' message was v. popular, Trump won - and the PLP thought 'what we need is someone like hilary clinton'
