The Dirty Burger posted:Dorion has done many shameful things since taking over, but Mike Condon for a 5th was definitely not one of them I feel for Condon. He was really solid after Carey went down, and his play probably declined heavily because he wasn't ready to be the guy for as much as he was last year. I also feel for Scrivens, but that's because I just think he's a nice guy. At the end of the day, Montoya came here with the mission of "I'm going to be the best backup goalie in the world", and I don't think you can ask a guy to be ready to stay in for 10 goals against. The Habs haven't necessarily had the best statistical backups, but they all seem like great guys and I really hope they enjoy success wherever they go. Just not at the expense of the Habs.

Furnaceface posted:Joe Sakic might be the worst GM in the league. Flipside: he didn't firesale what talent the team does have (even if it is likely damaged beyond repair). I can see Duchene, Landeskog and Barrie going for far more during the offseason than what they were ever going to get before the deadline. Their PDO, Sv% and Sh% in all situations is utter garbage, while their CF% and FF% are bad but not "league worst by a considerable stretch" bad let alone "historically" bad. They're bad, but they're also getting unlucky which is just a hilarious combination. On pure "Corsi Hockey League" numbers, they shouldn't be historically bad.

LumpyGumby posted:Honest to God it I had the know how I would. I'm really hoping you guys don't win the draft lottery, because I could definitely see Landeskog, Duchene or Barrie doing well in a better set up. None of those set ups are Montreal, why do you ask? Also, I infinitely prefer the Miller follow up. To be clear, that's not a "I hope you guys stink forever and ever, give us back the Nordiques", this is a "if you win the first overall nothing happens this year and the fundamental problems with the lineup will get papered over until you get pasted next year too and that doesn't seem fair to Avs fans". Aphrodite posted:I think my favorite thing this time of year is when they do "Who won the trade?" polls and people just vote for whichever team has more points and/or made the playoffs. They're talking about the Avs doing a similar number with Duchene/Landeskog over this offseason because "gently caress it the D-corps is such a tire fire wouldn't you do anything to make it less poo poo?". And for the Oilers, it's kind of half worked. I'm not going to argue that the Oilers won that trade because they almost certainly didn't (although Hall and Schneider will probably stop the Devils from genuinely bottoming out a la Leafs, Sabres, Avs or - hilariously - Oilers), but right now Larsson is a needed pick up (if not a good one) for a guy you had too many of.

He's the bottom level of NHL calibre defensemen. In the large scheme of things that still means he's pretty good. Also, he can't fight because his face has more plates than my crockery cupboard.
