I dont want to see bigger nets because skating fast and slinging the puck around is good and scoring a cheap right off the faceoff is boring I'd like to see two line passes brought back because I think dumping and chasing leads to boring hockey, and the only GM suggestion I read that I liked was moving the faceoff dots to just a single one in the center of the zone because I think that would lead to less grinding along the sides

fighting after clean hits is stupid but so is standing around after someone gets hurt like it's europe. maybe add a 2 minute penalty for fighting with your gloves on and then you can also ignore some of the ejections that happen when someone fights with tape on their hands

It doesn't look like you can search by faceoff % on hockey reference but I think taking faceoffs is something you know how to do or you don't, and if you don't then your % is like 30-40% and if you do then you're in that real tight band of like 48-52% where it doesn't matter and there's not a lot of players that play center and suck at faceoffs and aren't super young

If you have some killer faceoff move you pull out half a dozen times a game on the PK or when you are down one in the offensive zone then that skews the usefulness of your FO% beyond just the percentage. I agree that it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but I hope my boy wonder GM uses his brains to include FO% in his player evaluations intelligently

He looked really bad at the start of the year which was understandable because he was coming off a ACL tear and when he started to look better he was getting less ice time because we were working deangelo and chychrun in but he was also thrown into more of a defensive role because he was the veteran on his pairing. Glad to see he's working out though

Strome feels like a bust because he's already been in 2 years of preseason training camps but he's still only 20 years old and he's still putting up 2ppg this year in the ohl and is getting hosed by the bullshit junior rules, so the alternative is centering the 3rd line/sitting in the pressbox. Coyotes fans bitched about domi taking the same path but it's not like domi putting up 50 points 3 years ago or strome putting up 50 points this year would put them in the playoffs.

It would be great if some of the guys would pan out, I agree. It's sort of hard to hold the draft record against the franchise when we draft guys like turris and wheeler who turn out worse than whatever implausible trade/reach you could come up with.
