Neddy Seagoon posted:Convention weapon rules. I love uneven con rules. Last one I went to was very strict about weapons but said nothing about the rusted and semi-sharp metal all over my costume or the wooden bat wrapped in a metal chain. All were examined and allowed past the lobby but the wooden gun belonging to the guy in front of me was deemed "too realistic".

Yeah, his stuff is just bonkers. He works out of a tiny workshop yet manages to pull this stuff off. I've been encouraging him to start selling stuff full time but he won't.

Horrible Lurkbeast posted:How long does it even take? Is it like how actors have to spend hours in the makeup chair? Not that long. For a costume like that, you can expect to be on the con floor for about an hour so an old standby trick is to mix your body paint with lotion. It goes on smooth and is easy to wash off. In other news, because I will always pimp his work, PreztelBot got on Kotaku AGAIN https://cosplay.kotaku.com/more-nier-cosplay-1803099083

CzarChasm posted:I think I've seen enough Jack cosplay to ask - Do they make official pre-tattooed body suits/sleeves, or is everyone customizing sleeves? If the second, how? Sharpie? You can take a skin-tone body suit and use fabric paint. It's much more reasonable than painting your actual skin and expecting it to remain for more than... 15 minutes.

Here is a quick amateur cosplay primer: Dress as literally any character you want. Don't be a dick to people. Don't to black/yellow/white face or any variations. That's it. We're not talking about multi-million dollar acting roles that always go to white people. If you want to start policing how people enjoy their hobbies then maybe you have more in common with the undead ninja Nazi than the rest of us.

New Leaf posted:In The X-Files, the "monster of the week" shows were the most enjoyable. "Supernatural" started out as a "monster of the week" type show, but once they got their footing and started rolling with the meta-plot, it got loving FANTASTIC! Then about season 5 EVERYTHING they'd been building to hit a beautiful climax the season finale was the perfect end to the series.. and then they kept going.. and going.. and going. I won't lie, I watched and thoroughly enjoyed the next few seasons, but somewhere around 9 or 10 I fell off the horse.. and I think it's up to season 13 now, so someone is watching. I still watch it. Even if the most recent seasons lack that S5 magic, it is still reliably entertaining. Plus, yeah, the guys seem to be really into it.
