I'm going to try playing it in Japanese. I actually set it as a (somewhat optimistic) learning goal for myself back when it was announced in March

I've learned a little over 3000 vocabulary flash cards since i started about a year ago so worst case I'll learn a few hundred more

I believe the idea with Sae has accepted the reality that rigging cases is what all the top prosecutors, and she has prepared herself to falsify evidence or otherwise do whatever it takes to get her bosses off her rear end about the Phantom Thieves case, but that she has not done this previously. She's at the precipice of becoming a monster, but ultimately still capable of backing out and quitting her job without having to get completely brainwashed by having her treasure taken.

This is the person whose Id (or whatever) is the manager of a completely rigged from top to bottom casino that presumably didn't suddenly get that way overnight you're talking about, right

Huh, I just realized that P5S is probably named after Shibuya's Scramble Crossing. So that's a thing. Ryuji makes a big deal about it when you go to Iwai's shop; did he do that in the original?

At the rate I have to look up unfamiliar words and weird conversational grammar it sounds like it'll come out just as I reach the new endgame content in the Japanese release :v:

(My vocab is at about JLPT N3 level, as long as we're on the subject of suicidal overconfidence...)

Did Takemi's sp recovery patches get rebalanced in p5r at all? Or are the new accessories that add spells the rebalance

I feel like non-jp markets are and will continue to be something of an afterthought for the persona series, and PC gaming in Japan is still not really a thing even if it is increasing in popularity.

Boat dungeon emphasizes all the best and worst parts of Persona 5.

Kicking soundtrack, some really nice character moments... and a whole lot of filler and lovely pacing and an unsatisfying showdown with an uninteresting villain. The game never really hits quite the same hateable and off-puttingly realistic highs that Kamoshida does right at the beginning.

There are minor gameplay changes but the new content is mostly in the form of a fourth act after the end of the original game.

Some new characters have been added and have some early game cut scenes with no real interactions of consequence.

For Madarame, the remake added a second phase where he spawns lovely elemental clones constantly so the idea is you have to chain together a full baton pass and then have Ryuji (whoever) finish up by punching him with the fury of an wrathful god. Which is a neat gimmick I guess but I much prefer the original single phase version, it was the hardest and most satisfying boss battle in the original for me.

Maybe they'll do something interesting for Kaneshiro at least, that guy was really boring. And Okumura too I guess.

also after every interminably drawn out social event you do you now get a phone call where the interactee talks about even more interminable bullshit

apparently somebody on p5r's dev team really thought that a major problem with p5 was that it didn't have enough filler.
