For stuff like instruments, you should consider donating anything that you don't use to an after school program. Since you're keeping them because you remember the joy they gave you, think of the joy that they could bring to others. An instrument sitting around gathering dust is sad, without regular use they will end up unrepairable eventually. Call up or email an after school program in a poorer area, if you're in DC it shouldn't be hard to find. Another thing to consider is since you know that you no longer want the maintenance responsibilities of a house, what is your ideal living situation for the future. If that doesn't include a yard, then sell off all your yard maintenance stuff. If that doesn't include a formal dining room, get rid of that furniture. You can donate housewares like your extra 4 sets of china to refugee resettlement programs. No one needs 4 sets of dishes. You are only keeping the others because thinking about getting rid of them causes you anxiety and doing nothing relieves that anxiety. Keep the ones that you use everyday and the nice one from your parents.
