Oh gently caress... that is definitely a bad sign because you clearly have a high nonsense threshold. I just downloaded the demo, but please tell us about your experience. I would never laugh at a train-wreck in reality, but in this case I would because nothing is hurt but our hopes for more good tactical RPGs.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Octopath to begin with. It was a good, not great game, in my opinion.

Battle system was good enough but I need more from my party interacting, and I needed the dialogue to be more than the plot dumps it ended up having.

So far Triangle Strategy seems to be in line to be Octopath Tactics. Which puts it in line to be a beautiful game, that has its moments. It also puts it in line for excessive dialogue and battles that feel like a chore after a while.

There is a great game here if the devs can strip away the excess, but so far the feedback that's being given, especially on other forums and discords seem to be people want more of the excess.

To put it in terms of Tactics Ogre, imagine if the very first battle of a Tactics Ogre demo was a real slog of a battle. Something real uninteresting without extra context like one of the more bland palace of the dead maps that just take way too long to complete. Couple that with characters who take 2 paragraphs to say what could have been said in 2 sentences and, I guess you see my complaints.

In all honesty, it's probably not as bad as it seems, or as I'm making it out to be, but they really took an awful map/fight to be the first impression of the game.

Also, those of you who have already seen the ending to the CODA, whew. There are some things to unpack and like a billion lines of dialogue. It is a good ending (tm).

WORLD – Episode 26 – I Wish I Knew How to Quit You

Let’s get this going!

Tactics Ogre!

Floating Ruins!

One of the last few updates!
:black101:

Where are we?
Currently we’re finishing out the San Bronsa post game ruins in the CODA. These ruins are much less of a grind that the Palace of the dead, but on a map for map basis, these maps are far more challenging.

Just a reminder if you’re reading this is the far future, San Bronsa is like the Palace of the Dead in that you aren’t going to always go in order as far as the floors go.

And uh… I might have forgotten to take a picture at the start of the battle but this map is one of the less interesting ones. The pit in the middle is cool looking, but ultimately does little to affect the flow of battle.

Deneb does Deneb things.

Poignant melody is something I’m not sure if I’ve touched on before yet or not. Ethereal Visions and Divine Knights have this ability and it has the ability to charm multiple units. It can make you have a very bad day, similar to when those annoying banshees charm your dudes.

We’re very lucky this is a miss on Vyce or else things go pear shaped very fast. The eagle-eyed viewers out there notice that Vyce is missing a heart. At some point the AI got thrown off into one of these pits, but I stopped caring about the hearts.

Each of the units have a unique death quote when they run out of hearts, but I just can’t bring myself go working on killing off everyone to get a line or two of text. I am crazy, but I have my limits.

I don’t have a better way to show off what’s happening on this map since it is shaped very weird in regards to our screenshot format.

You can get Tornado 4 from this floor as well.

There isn’t much for this level. I think this is where the devs just got map fatigue.

This map right here - it will end you. See that real thin strip of land that heads to the right-hand side of the map? You will likely lose the race to get there before the Golem slightly above the word “interrupt” gets there with his stupidly high level of rampart aura. There’s nothing here but a slog, but it’s a good slog. There are options but you better have some fliers. It’s possible to have slow or low mobility units get stuck which then prevents your other units from navigating to the fight. Overall, even though it’s tough as nails, it’s a very well-designed map from both the terrain and the units placed on it.

:swoon: Indeed Deneb. Indeed.

Forced Femata is the level 8 finisher for Instrument users. There is no element type but there’s one thing that it has over most of the other finishers. Forced Femata is also one of the few attacks in the game that can cause the status Stop. So, it’s really effin good.

And stopped is exactly what it sounds like, the unit is done sir done until the status fades.

The Resonant Score is one of the high-level songstress scores, but it’s not worth it. It causes misstep on a large group of enemies. It’s not exactly worth it.

One of your prizes for beating this level can be the second tier Wendigo summon. The second level summons can hit up to 7 times per cast. I don’t need to tell you how broken that is. It also costs 90 MP to cast, but by this point, if you aren’t packing 99 Magic leaves (or better), then you’re doing it wrong.

This is another really well-designed maps. You’re going to be peppered by those Basilisks on your approach, and that Scyliia just barely off screen is going to end up being a massive road block for your units by the time you get up that way. Both approaches have really thin pathways that of course are just perfect to have our dudes thrown off of into a bottomless pit.

You can get one of the really powerful second tier draconic magic spells from this level. For my money, I think the summons are better than the draconic magics simply because you need wyrm Gems to cast draconic magic, so in the extended maps, you run the risk of not having wyrm gems. You never run that risk with the summon magic.

There it is the last level in the San Bronsa Ruins. You ready to see what this is all about?

I have to admit, this is the biggest disappointment to me in the entire game. There’s nothing at the top of this level but a cool looking map that looks like it should have been an amazing boss fight. As of writing this, no one I know of has figured out any super-secret requirement for this fight. Nor has anyone I’ve seen online know what was intended for this fight before it got removed on the cutting room floor.

I do know this:

“A beautiful statue carved in the likeness of Phelana, Goddess of Love and Justice”

I could be wrong, but I don’t know if there is any other mention of her on the maps in game, but based on the Vepahl storyline that seems unresolved even though she’s most definitely dead, I imagine that whatever entity she and her Tigers of Burnham pissed off was supposed to be present in the later stages of San Bronsa. Also moments like these make it hard to truly track the theology of Ogre Battle, because there are so many different spellings and lack of standardization when it comes to deities.

Instead, we get this -

And this isn’t a troll, you get nothing for beating San Bronsa, other than a title if you care about kind of thing. From a story point of view, there’s nothing.

What’s left to do?

Go back to the Palace of the Dead of course.

No, I’m not kidding or trolling. :shepicide:

Of course, in typical Tactics Ogre fashion, just going back to the PoTD without being extremely lucky or having a very good FAQ in front of you isn’t good enough.

This involves finding the 4 wind god weapons that have been a staple of hidden weapons in almost every game in the Ogre Saga. The Euros, Boreas, Notos, and Zephyros are all weapons that presumably do their best dragon ball impression and scatter to the winds once someone gets ahold of them or something. In each game there are very hidden, almost to a maddening level, and in every game, they give you something really good for collecting them and then finishing some challenge. In some games it’s as simple as talking to someone. In the PSP remake well…

Remember when I said let’s not worry about this Rukh in San Bronsa Floating Ruins Level 1? You know the guy you can just barely see right above the e in the word limestone in the follow screenshot

Well, he can drop the Zephyros as a random drop.

:goonsay: Well at least he’s always there, it’s just a matter of getting him to drop an extremely rare weapon, correct?

: AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA Did you forget what game we’re playing?
Yep, not only is this a randomized drop, but the enemy is randomized if he’ll even show up. Same for exact deal for these next 3 characters.

The gryphon in this exact location on floor 64 of the Palace of the Dead will drop the Boreas.

The final two drops are on floor 99 of the Palace of the Dead.

This guy will drop the Euros.

There’s a dreadnought (palette swapped terror knight) on this stage as well that drops the final weapon, the Notos, but I don’t seem to have a screenshot of her. We’re going to imagine you see her, but if you’re following along, it will be a female terror knight on elevation 18.

Gather all four weapons, and go back to the Altar of the Beyond (Floor 100) of the Palace of the Dead.

Meet one of the super bosses of LUCT – Blackmoor. He only shows up if you have all 4 wind god weapons. If you have 3, it’s just a group of Lich Kings and Queens, which are formidable opponents in their own rights.

His HP is no joke, even for our AI death squad because Blackmoor is *always* at level 50 whenever you show up to challenge him. This can be one of the 5 to 7 most difficult battles in the game if you don’t have sufficient levels.
Note the flavor text is one of the few times the game explicitly calls out the Temple of Ashmedai, stating that the PoTD is the dark elemental temple.

Blackmoor is flanked by these units, lich queens and kings:

The text for a king just shows king instead of queen.

This fight goes about as well as you’d expect. It’s a slog to the point where I even have to step in a few times to make sure things go well due to the narrow approach and the way units clump up.

Those lich kings and queens can both do summon darkness. I don’t need to tell you how unfair this already is, or how much I hate summon darkness.

Giant dragons in the way, a seemingly unending wave of undead and creatures of the dark, it is very easy to lose this battle badly.

But finally, Blackmoor falls (on his face) and we are victorious. However, notice that the start of the fight doesn’t say defeat Blackmoor as a winning condition. This fight goes on until you’re completely destroyed every single thing or person that’s not a member of your party.

Go get the bag for us Lans, let’s see what we get?

:swoon:
We’ve talked about Heaven’s forks before; you need them to get the Divine Generals to show up. The Gran Grimoire is a unique book with divine elemental attack that is equipped by magic users. The Firecrest though, that’s the real reason why you go through all of this effort.
But wait, there’s more –

Finishing out the fight, each one of the Lich Kings and Queens can drop a piece of the Ogre Set – Ogre Blade, Ogre Helm, Ogre Shield, and Ogre Armor. They are as OP as you imagine them to be. As well as the Ogre Blade itself, opening up the game so that you can just do things that would normally be impossible to do. I’ll show you in a mini update, separate from this one.

That, my fellow goon and Goonettes, is the last loving time you will ever see another screenshot of me playing a level from the Palace of the Dead in this LP.

We did it! YAY!

Next episode - Mini update with Body Swap and then on to the best mission in the entire game. The final bit of story content is awesome

It's taken forever but we're really at the tail end of this thing now. We have our very special battle with a ton of backstory to explain in the context of Knight of Lodis and the universe in general, as well as very lengthy ending.

While vague status updates and promises are not very cool, I have secured one last final major surprise for this LP, and I plan on having the two line up which gives me a definitely date that I have to finish this thing by.

With that said, I can't think of a better time or place for you to throw out any questions or things you'd want to have said that might one day reach the attention of the TO team sooooooo

Also I found out that there is a art of Tactics Ogre book which is where i pulled the image of the gods from in this update and my god is it beautiful. One image in particular makes it into our next real update. It's the first time *I've* ever seen this one piece of artwork without being obscured. Once I realized what it was, my jaw dropped. It's an incredibly powerful piece of artwork.

Good things are still possible my friends.

Good to see you back, waah!

Looking back at the PotD -- which I'm glad to be done with, honestly -- it seems like they threw everything they could possibly think of into this one area. Does the in-game lore support the sheer narrative weight this one dungeon seems to have? The other temples didn't seem quite as important.

That's a great question. To paraphrase one of our regulars - everything leads back to Rashidi.

To add to their wisdom, anything that doesn't lead back to Rashidi, leads back to necromancy, which then leads back to Rashidi.

Albeleo was one of Rashidis students. He decided to stay team Rashidi even when it was obvious that Rashidi was no longer in anyway a hero and was becoming the big bad.

You beat Albeleo once as the main character from MoTB. In game, once you beat him, and you go back to the same stage the residents tell you that no one can find Albeleo's body.

If you go to the secret stage of MoTB, you find out that Albeleo has reappeared in a floating island in the sky. You beat him again, but he doesn't stay dead.

But it's unclear when the actual time frame of this is, because everyone calls you Lexar, which is not the name of the main character from MoTB, but a legendary knight of lore.

And also Albeleo is in search for dragons and dragon magic to defeat the rebels.

And also Albeleo joins your party in LUCT as Rudlum, when you find him in the Palace of the Dead.

You know the Rudlum who is in search for Draconic magic and never seems to actually have any story content despite being a fully unique character?

The other draw of the palace of the dead is twofold. One is the allure of power over an army of the undead. Like who wouldn't want their own army of skeletons to terrify the living eff out of your enemies.

The second half of that is my own personal take on the situation: you have a an island that is swimming in death and despair. Judging by the story, you'd have to look hard to find people who didn't lose loved ones throughout the bloody conflict. The power to bring back loved ones is a strong motivation, especially for someone who is pushed past the breaking point.

Using necromancy to bring back loved ones only for it to backfire is a common theme in the OB saga.

Lastly, there's also that whole second Chaos Gate that is at the bottom of the PoTD, and what I suspect was supposed to be at the top of San Bronsa, especially based on the shape of the SB battlefield compared to the other chaos gates, but that content was cut for unknown reasons.

Ah the Crest of Fire. Aka the Fire Crest. Aka the Fire Seal.

It was always described as a MacGuffin that was for a different quest. In Ogre Battle it was said to be "equal in power if not greater than the 12 Zodiac Stones. " but nobody knew what it did.
You know, besides stat bonuses.
Was it a reference to Fire Emblem? Crest, Seal, Emblem....

And then there's the Gran Grimoire. It's basically The Neverending Story in the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance games, a book that turns your world into a fantasy world. (or if the previous game complained about escapism, just was a portal to a different world.) And in Vagrant Story is was the city of Lea Monde itself. Yeah, you're not gonna cram those continuities together, others have tried.

I forgot to add in the update what the firecrest does.

I'll update with screenshots but iirc it's +20 to every base stat and it also allows you to see the exact chaos frame level of each faction.

Sure it is! If I recall correctly: simply recruit a generic unit of a certain faction, then review their loyalty statement toward you. That will give you an idea of the range of the chaos frame value for that faction!

It's not a base feature as in the exact number from 1-100.

Like Prowler said, the responses give you a rough answer if you check loyalty after recruiting a member of a certain factor.

The fire crest gives you this screen which removes any doubt where you stand.

I will say this about crafting.

There are several end game items that even with as OP as our post game party is, and the stupid stats we have, there are still several items that we have a less than 50% chance to craft.

So 700+ hours in, you still are needing to save scum to craft items needed for the post game.

From what I can tell, the RNG for crafting is seeded partly off the system clock.

I know for the battle system and loot drops, the seeding is based more off the location of where the attacking unit defeats the enemy.

The original 3 save files I posted like 4 years ago are here.

As are another 50 random save files that cover most of the post game run by our AI death squad, so you can pic up whenever you want.

Also, there is the 3 excel files that were made by users from GameFaqs for San Bronsa, Pirate Graveyard, and PotD loot tables.

But why? Obviously someone with clout had love for the original, but it just seems like some sort of dream project that somehow made the light of day. I'm glad it did, but it's still surprising.

The base game was probably just a labor of love. It has the feeling of well this series is a dead man walking, let's pour as much love into it as we can.

The post game is a different story. It very much feels like the show that gets renewed for a surprise 5 and 6th season and the writers know they have a blank check to just go after their wildest dreams.

It's very easy to forget that everything in the CODA was DLC in Japan. When you hit CODA Chapter 1 for the first time, the thought process is that you'd have devoured most, if not all, of the in game content at that time. Your levels, stats, and equipment would reflect someone who had played through at least 2 of the paths.

It's part of the reason why I am more lenient in the CODA than others. As far as bang for your buck DLC, this game is up there.

World Episode 27 – Boats Against the Current

Where Are We?

We’ve just finished up with beating a super boss – Blackmoor who drops the Fire Crest. We also finished the new optional post game dungeon San Bronsa. Time to wrap this up folks. This is the ending of CODA #4, and by default the ending of the game. We made it. We’re finally here guys and gals!

Let’s get this train rolling!

It’s been :squints: a few weeks, yeah, we’re going to go with weeks :eyeroll: since the last update that involved the plot. So if you go back to the emotional ending of Episode 20 – No I Just Have Something In Both Eyes, https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3813071&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=46#post501071889, where Don Quite meets up with the doppelgänger version of his dad, this is where we’re picking up the story again.

The Ogre Battle series really leans into the Hero’s journey trope hard. You can’t go home again, once you’ve seen such much. The hero has to go off on search of something, anything really because there’s nothing left for him at home. In some games it feels forced, but I think it’s doubly fitting in this series that deals with trauma inflicted by prolonged war. It’s not uncommon for soldiers to return home and fail to adapt to the world they once knew.

Don Quixote can speak this wisdom that leaving is really only for Catiua’s benefit, but it’s just as much to benefit Don Quixote.

This line is :swoon:

Are you picking up what’s being put down here? This is framing what would be a future installment of the saga. From everything we’ve seen with the scenario planning in the CODA, the overarching conflict and character arcs, the language used here by Denam is very deliberate. A future game would have Denam learn more about the Chaos Gates, possibly Rashidi and Albeleo’s plans (remember Rudlum is the reincarnation of a boss you beat in March of the Black Queen), and return to deal with this looming threat.

You can also look at this growth for Catiua for when you see someone complaining about how needy she is. Yes, on the surface this is a clingy statement, but when you look at it via her calling out Don Quixote for his lie about needing to leave for her, and then reading this statement, this is the statement of someone who has had some incredible emotional growth over the last couple years.

I uhhh….

Nope, you need the gif of this one. It’s so well done.

I’m still not sure how I feel about a possible Catiua and Vyce romance after all of these years. I don’t hate it, but I do feel like it’s one of the few cases where the game just pulls a story thread out of nowhere. I can do some twists and justifications about how conflict brings people together and how it’s really a sign that the reason why Vyce was always your opposite was because he wished Catiua was close to him, but it’d feel unauthentic. But if it makes those few fans who wanted to ship Vyce and Catiua happy, then good for them. Glad you Vyce x Catiua fans got yourself something you can be excited about.

There are some serious phrasing issues and double entendres here I think involving hands, cups, and parental expectations, that a better goon than I would go to town with. I’m just going to instead marvel at how this scene goes from being perfectly normal to Goon level awkward in record time. There’s some serious talent here by the dialogue and localization staff to nail that awkward moment when two friends realize they have feelings for each other in front of a third wheel.

I have to make a gif for this bro fist for y’all.

Yep, amazing.

Exit scene right, our heroes knowing this is likely the last moment they all share together for a very long time. You can’t go home again.

HOOOOOLY poo poo DON QUIXOTE OFF THE TOP EFFIN ROPE!! Not gonna lie, I laugh every single time I see this part of the scene.

The advantage of this game being eleventy billion hours long is that now you can have these scenes where the main characters have their moments filled with emotion. If you’ve stuck with the game this long, and played for the equivalent of almost 2 full weeks of your life, then you want to see these little moments where your digital family has bonding moments.

There we go, that was the final time count for everything. I think I picked up the post-game part of the LP back when my save file was at about 620 or so, so we’re looking at roughly 120 hours of content for what I covered in the post-game. It’s probably closer to about 80 but remember we also let the AI loose on every single battle recorded on this thing, *AND* all of our characters were in the low 40s for when this started. I’m showing you this, because the game gives you the option to save before the end credits for the CODA begins. I’m not sure why, as far as I can tell, there are no branching endings for the CODA or special dialogues turns out this is the only way to actually view the ending again without having to beat CODA 4 again.
I’m going to mostly be quiet for the ending before I come back to touch on some interesting comments and wording.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Canopus gets dunked on in the CODA count: 3

Canopus gets dunked on in the CODA count: 45

It’s like shooting fish in a barrel all of a sudden.

In case you wondered why I even bothered to make the Canopus getting dunked on meme in the first place, this scene is why.

I plan on getting some serious use out of using this as an insult on Twitter.

:swoon:

Keep in mind that “the father” is the deity Father Philaha, who after doing a bit of research for the last couple episodes made me realize he has some real dicks for followers.

If only Canopus could chime in….

Let’s unpack some of those story beats because there is a whole forest of seeds planted in preparation for whatever is planned for the next story in the Ogre Battle Saga. Reminder that all the screenshots after this have already happened and this section consists of me plucking screenshots for ease of discussion. They do not necessarily happen in the order shown.

I’m unsure the time difference between these narration by Iuria, the scene with Don Quixote, Vyce, and Catiua, and the departing scene on the ship. What I can say, is that the order I posted them, is the order that they are presented in game. What I can say is that what Quixote says above is a far cry from a “promise” to visit. Could be translation, could be one localizer not knowing what else was going on in the ending, but DQ says that line to Vyce and Catiua like neither one was there by the ship when these goodbyes were happening. Add that to the intrigue by what Iuria says about being half way across the Oberro sea. The Oberro sea is mentioned in OB64 and Knight of Lodis in flavor texts for armors and weapons. Interestingly enough, and something I didn’t find out until I loaded up all the games again instead of using the crappy wikis for research is that the setting of Let Us Cling Together is located in the middle of the Oberro sea. It mentions the Oberro sea in the in-game cinematic that plays when you let the title screen sit. Of course, this gives me no definite location of which direction the Xytengian mainland are located in relation to the Valerian islands or even the island of Ovis (the location of Knight of Lodis).

You guys were dead on about all of your comments and time travel. Iuria is saying that our heroes need to face whatever danger awaits. Time of the essence, and that the future can still be re-written. It also explains why Iuria was so sympathetic to a creature who for all intents and purposes wanted to steal Iuria’s body and soul.

Your reminder that Deneb is also a Wicce, and that Wicce in the Ogre Battle Saga hop bodies to survive and retain their youthful appearance. It’s also clear that Deneb knows more than she’s letting on as she commonly does. (But we love her anyways!!!!)

If the writers had mentioned wars involving mermaids here, I would have lost my poo poo. The implication here is that Iuria has seen wars involving the Ogres throughout time. But to mention mermaids would have made tied all of this together with MotB, KoL, and OB64 even more.

I don’t have the slightest clue about what’s going on here with Klaire, but if the Lanselots are meant to be two sides of the same coin, then there is a terrible sacrifice in her future or she will be pivotal in helping redeem Tartaros.

Yep, there’s something major planned for her.

Well, that’s it for this update. It’s been a fun ride. We wrap this up next update so you know it’s been a great ride

:goonsay: Waah! You forgot one thing
: No, I didn’t, hush! We’re done here!
:goonsay: But you’ll never forgive yourself for not doing this all to completion! You need to exhaust all options!!1!
: No! You’re wrong! YOU DON’T KNOW ME!
:goonsay: So, you’re going to let the super-secret battle where you fight Lans and all the Dark Knights with only Don Quixote, Vyce, and Catiua not make it into this LP after you played through the Palace of the Dead multiple times, and replayed the entire CODA again for certain in game screenshots? You know you have to righ- why are you sobbing?
: You’re right. I have to. I can’t let it end without the chance to talk about how awesome Knight of Lodis is again.

And this exchange totally isn’t because I just realized I never actually got screenshots for this battle. Nope. So – next update! We knock out our final house keeping items before the FINAL UPDATE.

It’s been a helluva ride, I’m keeping my promise, we FINISH this thing, no matter what.

Also, in regards to the timestamp on the save file, I am going to steal a line from Chris Rock... Good Lord that's a lot of playtime!

Thirdly, that ending though. There are only three games all time where I really was invested in the story and remain to this day. I'm not being snarky; I play games for adventure and challenge but I prefer books for stories. Those three games are FFT, Planescape: Torment and Let Us Cling Together. The end bit really brought it home for me.

Fourthly, waah, I think some typos:

It’s been :squints: a few weeks, yeah, we’re going to go with weeks :eyeroll: since the last update that involved the plot. (I wasn't sure if any of these were supposed to be emoticons)

You can’t go home again, once you’ve seen such much (Not sure what you were going for here)

The second one yes. The first ehhhh I type like that sometimes. I should either find the right emoticons or redo it.

I started working on this final battle of the LP and spoiler -

So it turns out this fight is a lot harder than I remember, even with OP characters. I didn't' take it seriously enough, so I will need to find time to tackle it properly without distractions. That didn't stop me from deciding to go ahead and writing the final actual update to the thread.

So we're spitting distance. I'm wrapping this thing up in the next 2 or 3 weeks, so get ready.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the ride my goons and goonettes.

WORLD - Episode 28 – I Find Your Lack of Faith Planning Disturbing

It’s been forever, I’ve got a couple other posts to fill on, let’s get right to this.

Where In the WORLD is Don Quixote

We’re starting the last battle of CODA 4. There are a few special things in the form of an item and title if you complete the final battle with only Denam Don Quixote, Catiua, and Vyce. Yes, this means we’re taking on all of the dark knights with just these three characters, yes it’s hard, and yes it’s awesome.

Any other questions? Great? Let’s do this!

The initial setup starts off as usual so we’re going to just fly through this part. Refer back a couple years updates if you need a refresher. :cripes:

: Hush you smug gently caress! Oh, you’re talking to Volaq. Well then.

: I mean yes, but also there’s some super rare weapons and loot those guys are holding and I think it’d look really good on you guys.

I really enjoy that even with the time travel aspect here, Don Quixote’s sprite change helps you quickly determine past Don vs present Don.

The first thing to do is to use a tarot card so that I can get blinkwalk up on my characters. If you look at that battle line, this is a 3 v 18 battle. We can’t afford to have terrain be in our way.

The opening dialogue for this battle does not change when it’s just you 3 vs the dark knights. I hate that other than relying on online message boards, data mining, etc that there’s no way for you to know that that there is a reason to go after this stage with just the 3 main heroes.

We’re going to continue to use more buffs to prepare. In this case, fortify to protect against the absolute gauntlet of hits we’re going to take.

As a quick reminder, even after 700 hours, my parry skill is only at 2. Don needs all the help he can get.

Same with Catiua. We want her casting spells as strong as possible. Units need to die quickly until we can start isolating dark knights. If you are doing this for their weapons, then the faceless baddies have to die as soon a possible so that you can work on manipulating CHARIOT for their rare weapons.

More so than anything else in this LP, we need to be working on preparing to inflict maximum damage as soon as possible. Prep is everything for this battle.

Ah, our good friend Vainateya’s Talons.

Going like we intended so far good.

Not going to go well for Emilie. Vyce is going to delete this dude after we send him off to the side here.

The level 4 aoe spells from San Bronsa are kinda good. Just FYI.

Well, you see Barbas, through grinding level and stats, all things are possible! :eng101:

Except for him dropping his weapons.

One of the dark knights uses deadscream and causes fear on Don Quixote. It’s not ideal. I’ll just use an item to remove fear since fear both kills your damage and makes you take more damage.

Oh. So remember that whole thing where I said preparation is key? Let’s put a pin in that for now mmkay?

Putting Vyce off on his own is not exactly the best move right now. Probably should have thought this out a bit better, but Vyce is just gonna delete more people. It’s no big deal. To be noted, that even though I’ve been abusing blinkwalk on everyone, rampart aura can still prevent movement via blinkwalk.

Remember when I said we’d kill you last Oz? I li-

Oh. That’s a critical hit and knockback. Oh. Anyways.

Even with fear, having a special where damage scales with TP is really good. Ozma goes bye bye and we’re down 2 dark knights.

Glory to Lodis indeed.

Oooooh! Treasure bag, I wonder what I could be!

: You gotta be kidding me. It’s not my day.

However, the overarching theme here is Catiua is just an AOE spammer of death and spending the time to raise her correctly is so worth it.
There’s just one problem. See that bottom left of the screen above? There might have been a problem with that. Remember this?

Yeah, I don’t have picture of it because I was too busy screaming no but Martym decided that Rending Gale is a good finisher (it is). It’s just very bad and very unfair when he applies it to a very wounded Vyce.
And so. :negative:

With out them all alive, we can’t get the special title or special item from this battle.

If you didn’t catch on to the foreshadowing in this post, preparation is key for this battle. Even being over levelled and extremely stat boosted doesn’t mean it’s a cake walk which is why I’m doing this battle without the AI. So, it’s time to fix our skills, go craft a crap ton of OP items and run this back.

Keep in mind that while I’m breaking this up in to different posts, I’ve written these all up and will be posting the end of this LP over the next few days since the last time I posted I said we’d be done by Christmas… a whole year ago. :cripes:

Next Update – Punkin gets all of our money and Don Quixote goes full on min/max.

So an off note here, 2022 has been a whirlwind for me. I finally got a job that was willing to allow me to grow and show initiative and it turns out that when i'm not bored AF at work, I excel and keep getting new responsibilites! Who would have thought.

So apologies for not responding much or even posting, the whole thing snowballed where I felt awful for not even logging in which made me want to not log in even more. I've got a lot to catch up on, and thoughts later on Reborn (tl;dr - it's 95% better in every way).

I don't have it in me to do all of the heavenly generals, but as i put in the last post, I'm proofreading some of the other posts to put up in the next couple days and at worse, i'll send the written posts to Tithin since i'm terrible.

WORLD – Episode 29 – Okay! I’m Reloaded (With Items)!

At the end of the last episode, Vyce got wrecked and I needed to rethink my strategy. We need items, and lots of them. I think we’re ready finally. [Side note, it's killing me that I didn't think of the photoshop in my head right now when writing this update. You may see yet another terrible photoshop added retroactively here]

Look, I was all in in on making this photoshop abomination before I realized that the Okay, I’m Reloaded line was from Carlito’s Way instead of Scarface. Indulge me this once please thanks? Or else I’m going to inflict psychic damage on you all by doing a photoshop of Don Quixote as Tony Montana, Catiua as Gina Montana, and Vyce as Manny.

Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Where in the World is Don Quixote?

After a very embarrassing loss after absolutely rolling most of the game I’m taking this all very personally to absolutely ruin the dark knights. How dare they call us out as frauds.

On Medicine 2 is one of the best craft books for the high-end post-game battles and even for chasing some of the titles about no-incap throughout the base game.

Now we’ve got to go make bunch of Mending Seed +1s so that

We can make a bunch of Mending Seed +2s so that

We can make a bunch of Mending Seed +3s so that

We can go buy a bunch of Mending Salves and use them to make a bunch of Mending Salve +1s so that

We can go make bunch of Mending Salve +2s so that

We can make a small handful of Mending Essences, which will allow us to heal a unit for 100% of their HP so that

We can do the whole process again but only for Magic Essences.

This was about a 30+ minute process due to the joys of crafting :negative:

: But wait there’s more!
: WAT
:shepicide:
: You know there’s no way to enter into a shop in the middle of CODA 4, right?
: And?
: So, we have to go back in WORLD so that we can use an anchor point where you can go to a shop.
: But you can time travel so let’s just do that and then come right back here after getting some items and
: So, we’ll just load this anchor point right here and

: But that’s back in CODA 3 and we -
: We can buy stuff here and I don’t even know how you got those other screen shots. You’re skipping over steps. The thread readers need to know that we have to go back. We’ll just -
: Plz no. Why
: Load this here, and buy stuff, redo all of CODA 3 and all the fights in CODA 4 –

: Plz UR hurting me. Look we’re right HERE! See the pointy finger? Why are you still talking!

: - And 2 hours later you can get back to where you just were! EZ PZ!

: I regret all of my life decisions.

: [incoherent sobbing sounds]

: We just needed items!!!!!!!

: We already finished these things! Multiple times!!!!!!

Only my blackened and dying liver knows if this is a joke or the truth.

Vyce, Catiua, and Don Quixote are all getting Field Alchemy 4.

We try again, but for real this time. No really.

Blah blah blah piss off

The fruits of all that time spent crafting.

It’s all your fault in the first place Vyce. Shut your terrible mouth or I’m going back in time to reintroduce you to the version of you who was BFFs with Nybeth.
: You… rang…?
: Gaaaaaaah!
: As I was saying

That little pep talk (and the extra 6 battles to get back here) cause Vyce to hit level 50 as well. :toot:

I feel like we’ve seen this line a bunch of times now.

Mainly Vyce, but yes Catiua. Let us go forward and save lives, by murdering the ever-loving crap out of the Dark Knights!

Our final builds for the final fight just for reference.

I’m not pulling any punches here; I want it to be absolute horrible weather so that a couple shots miss throughout the fight.

That’s better. Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills would be proud of us.

Do you realize just how OP it is to have 400+ magic points at the start of a battle?

Same deal as before, we’ve got to buff up real good.

This time Martym doesn’t go off on our flank and I don’t send Vyce to his death. Time to send a summon spell at that smug face.

Tremendous shot doesn’t care about the bad weather. And I’m going to need things to turn around sooner than later.

The support units can really make this fight drag or keep one of the dark knights alive long enough for them to get a very powerful attack off. However, remember when I said, having 400+ MP to start a fight is really OP?

Heavenly Judge 2 has entered the chat.

Sup bro.

No, it’s definitely by all your wounds.

TREASURE BAGGG!!!!

Not ideal, but it’s a class mark for Ozma. It’s better than an oberyth.

As the fight continues, they start to fall faster and faster as we clear out the chaff and the supporting units.

A tarot card for our efforts. Great. Effin great.

I’m not dropping Heavenly Judge II on my own dudes, but I just wanted to show you how it’s just a one-shot nuke with the way we’ve built up Catiua over the game.

Even a Dark Knight isn’t safe.

One of the interesting things here to note is which commanders die, and which commanders run away. You can tell that there are still plans for some of these characters in a future game. Now, if that game ever comes out, who knows.

The best way to actually be able to beat this fight is to be able to perform one hit knockouts as often as possible or else you begin to fall behind rapidly on the damage race.

And then Lans Tartaros finally manages to make it down the hill and into the fray. Great. Effin great.

Yesssss, do it Vyce. Do iiiiiitttttt.

:smug:
By the way, it’s another Hagiaknight Mark.

This is where the salves come in handy. See that run of 8 enemies before I could possibly even move again? That could be enough to ruin this run without the OP healing items.

Oh crap, Tartaros is casting magic. Keep in mind, he’s got divine magic spells and augments. Not typically what you expect your big bad who isn’t God to be wielding but Tartaros is a bad rear end on his own level.

I didn’t manage to get a shot, but Ozma used her unique finisher on Catiua.

gently caress.

Items, once again coming through in the clutch. Now that’s she’s not going to die, and she’s not charmed (and going to kill us), it’s time to resume Heavenly Judge II spam.

Note that Lanselot’s magic resistance is so high that this attack will only remove about half of his health, as opposed to most of the other Dark Knights where this spell either outright kills them, or seriously weakens them.

The AI knows the most dangerous unit on the field right now and is really making me sweat here.

I JUST FIXED THIS! STOP IT!

STOP ATTACKING HER SO I CAN AOE NUKE YOU ALL TO DEATH!

Aww yeah Heavenly Judge II time.

Wait.

She’s bewitched. gently caress.

Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow

I’ve got to somehow heal her, keep everyone else alive still *AND* also remove bewitched again. This fight is a really tough fight and I can’t stress it enough. However, Vyce’s magic resistance isn’t enough to chance him getting nuked. We choose heal and run Vyce as far away as possible.

Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow

So Catiua is definitely getting revenge for all the runs where you let her die to collect Lord marks, and I’ve got Lanselot Tartaros, Ozma, Andoras, and Balxephon staring down Don Quixote a half health. This is fine.

How about we take a break from me crapping my pants to look at Lans’s equipment and stuff.

This Apocalypse finisher has the chance to remove a heart btw. It’s unique to Lans and it really hurts. Why no, I’m not telling you this for any particular reason. No, Lans doesn’t have 87 out of the 100 technical points he needs to use this skill in this screenshot. Nope.

So instead of attacking, we use a full-on mending essence and try to keep the panic poop inside.

Despite being most of the way through all the enemies, we are definitely on the defensive right now while we try to deal with the ramifications of Catiua using Heavenly Judge II on us, instead of our enemies.

Because Catiua is still most definitely still bewitched and everyone wants to fire magic things at Vyce.

We can’t reach Vyce, who’s really hurting right now. We’ve got a very angry sister who is not killing the right people, and all the Dark Knights seem to be surging towards Vyce instead of Don Quixote. We need to keep Lanselot alive so that he’s the last person killed as well, even though he’s the most dangerous unit left alive.

We can’t use a Zolia Drought to get rid of bewitched because you need a Zolia Drought +1 to get rid of bewitched. If we don’t’ take care of Catiuas’s bewitched status, she’s going to end this run by nuking us again.

We’ve got an ace up the sleeve though. A scroll that we can use to cast Ease to remove bewitched.

SHE’S GOT DARK ADVERSE TOO??? COME ON!!!! It’s a 50/50 shot here, as is fitting for this drat game, we’re at the mercy of the RNG.

:shepicide:

Clearly the only thing left to do is heal as much as I can, gather everyone together, duck and cover, and hope Catiua makes it quick and somewhat painless. BUT WAIT!!!

Heavenly Judge II has a really long cool down time!!!!! Somehow Denam will get to move again before Catiua can send us all to the big tactics RPG in the sky!!!!!

We’re back in business ladies and gents! Smooth sailing from -

Crap. Well, I guess it’s time to start all over and do this again. Maybe the third time will be…

: Are just gonna gloss over the fact that you didn't even listen to yourself Waah?
: I did no such thing.

: ... Oh.

We’ll just load up this anchor point again and

Excuse me?

:getin:

Since Catiua used up about half of her magic nuking us… it’s time to refill her and then kill Ozma as soon as we can so that we can avoid bewitching “fun” again.

We use a scroll to get instill air on Don Quixote so that we can get some extra elemental damage on our targets since we don’t want to waste a full-on attack on Balxephon or Lans. Ozma is the only target that matters right now.

STOP THAT!!!!

But finally, we get back to doing the important things – casting Heavenly Judge II on our enemies. gently caress off Ozma.

Because of you Ozma, I’m sending an invoice to Lodis for new pants. Mine are awful brown right now.

And we don’t even get a freaking weapon!!!

Now that Ozma is gone time to clean up other targets of opportunity.

I’m only continually posting pictures here because the ratio of number of times Heavenly Judge II was cast on our enemies compared to the number of times Heavenly Judge II was cast on us is way too close.

You sure did. And you aren’t even going to make it into a sequel.

Lans is hurt, but remember, to get the title and the weapon he has to be the last enemy standing, so we can’t take advantage of him sitting like this. Oh well. Nothing else to see here.

I love the confidence here. After everything that’s happened in the game, the entire long journey to be here where Don Quixote had self doubt and seen so much loss, this moment makes me pretty happy.

To see the verified bad rear end Lanselot Tartaros show signs of worry is equally awesome. We’ve went over both a year or so ago a couple updates ago, but these few lines are just the perfect example of how the CODA is written by someone who loves the characters, for the players who love the characters.

The beauty of this line is that when this raid occurred Denam would have been about 16 or so. When the events of Knight of Lodis start, Tartaros was also about 16 years old.

It is odd, but it’s time…

Time for us to punch Balxephon in the back.

:stare:

Dodged losing a heart again. I think this run is going to end up okay.

Heavenly Judge is also good, just isn’t as big of an AOE spell.

Yes, go die quickly, we’ve got to finish this fight before all of our luck runs out.

I can’t even complain anymore. It is what it is.

Lans is going to stab Catiua but there’s on additional problem. There’s still one random dude hiding behind the house. He’s got to die before we finish Lans.

Doesn’t help that he’s throwing healing spells out there still.

But this will solve our problem.

Now, we can take out Tartaros, but there’s one important thing to do before we inflict the killing blow:

We’ve got RNG/CHARIOT manipulation to do.

After reloading, we have Vyce do the honors.

AND TARTAROS PARRIES THE SECOND ATTACK?!?!?!

And he counters with is own finishing move on Vyce because why not.

Doesn’t matter, our MVP, our favorite (and only) sister will do us the honors.

And with that Tartaros straight up dies. Not shift stones away, but actually dies. Time to get his loot.

Oh.

And the game ends out that way and you have to sit through all the credits and cut scenes. You can skip them by hitting the start button and skipping scene, but the way the scenes are broken up, you’ll need to skip about 10-15 sections all together.

And you’ll want to do this becauuuuse, unless you want to redo the entire battle over again, setting up the temporary save spot right before you kill Lans Tartaros is the only way to actually deal with the RNG so that you can get Tartaros’s sword – your uber trophy for going above and beyond what 99% of the player base will ever achieve.

Cue me redoing this section over and over and over again for the next 3 hours to get Tartaros’s sword to drop. None of these screenshots are duplicates and represent yet another reload to try to get Ambicion to drop.

: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
: Aren’t you going to take a screenshot? It dropped!!!
: WHAT??????
[cue me panic taking a bunch of screenshots worried that I’m going to miss it]

What’s so special about this sword?

To be quite honest, not much. There are much better swords you can get from the post-game dungeons; however, the stupid low-level requirement could be useful… if you didn’t need to be super overpowered to begin with to get it.

Maybe if you could start a brand-new new game + and carry the ambition with you it’d be worth it, but that’s not how this works. Your real reward is that you get to say you did the super hard and tedious task and lived out massive wish fulfillment.

Provided you’re willing to either cheese or come back and get the weapon later, you get He Who Stops the Wheel for not using chariot or retreating after beating CODA 4.

However, the grand jewel of it all is this title that’s only achieved by beating this battle as we just did, as Tartaros retreats when you bring your whole army. The Warren Report does not change depending on if you get One-Eyed Knight Slayer or not. In both instances, the final line is still that Lanselot Tartaros’s location is unknown.

And that’s it! We’ve got some after care to finish out with the last couple posts and the last few surprises but we did it! YAY!!!!!

It only took :squints: almost 5 years for me to get my poo poo together and finish writing this out, some of it is me procrastinating, some of it is getting a promotion (all the delays over 2022) and some of it will be addressed in the next post. I’ll post it as it was written and finished back in 2021, but thankfully entire parts of it no longer apply. I’ve enjoyed being on this ride with you all, thank you so much for being patient even when it looked like I was going to say peace out.

Post Update Edit: It's fittings that I summon a giant snowstorm to help me get through this stage and the day I post this, we're having a massive blizzard in the states that makes me appreciate how miserable it would be to fight in these conditions.

Yay coincidences!!!!

so if it drops someone to zero hearts (but not zero HP), do they die immediately, or do they just have no more "get-out-of-dying-free" cards?
also, I wonder if they changed Apocalypse at all in Reborn, given the hearts are gone.

Tithin would have to tell you or get a screenshot of the Reborn version of Apocalypse. I'm nowhere near any of the codas.

I imagine if you entered the fight with one of your units only having one heart and Lans used apoc on them and destroyed a heart then yes, that character would instantly die.

Well, if they're bringing in Knight of Lodis (which is questionable), Tartaros probably has knowledge of celestial mechanics due to being perpetually pissed at God and seeking power for power's sake.

In Knight of Lodis, Tartaros got an extremely bad deal even after doing God a pretty nice favor of setting up the circumstances to redeem said deity's favorite angel at the sudden cost of his personal happiness.

Basically, the Lucifer equivalent Shaher threatens to kill Tartaros and everyone else present if he doesn't get to escape his eternal prison due to being an extremely sore loser and jealous of God's love for humanity. Tartaros' girlfriend Eleanor, who promised to be with him after defeating Shaher, turns around and merges herself with the angel out of pity regarding his loneliness.

This is enough to redeem Shaher and send the two straight to Heaven. God does not turn around and send Eleanor back down as he almost certainly has the ability to do, turning Tartaros extremely and understandably bitter and cynical about how the world works since he effectively did all that for nothing.

Well, you see, God is dead.

Yep, lets go ahead and do this.

World 30 – All Good Things Must Come to an End

Ladies and gents, goons and goonettes, this is it, the final update (not anymore thanks to a year passing and a remake being released out of nowhere bitches!!!). This whole experience has been just as much of an exercise in patience and stamina as it was to actually get through the end game on an All Titles Run that turned into something closer to 90% titles run. My excuse is that finishing the thread for the post-game counts as finishing off the last few titles I didn’t get. I just couldn’t stomach grinding for that last bit of orichalcum needed to craft heavenly forks.

The entire Ogre Battle series is something incredibly dear to me. It started as a game that was quirky and unique enough to capture my attention as a teenager, and morphed into to a series that became an emotional crutch to me, to a remake we didn’t deserve (TWICE). This series has been a staple in my life for decades at this point.

I was in high school and I rented a copy of Ogre Battle from Blockbuster video. I would rent it multiple times, never getting further than the Valley of Kastro before I had to return the game. I could never get the same copy back without someone deleting my safe files and the battle took too long. I would resort to playing at night and leaving a shirt over my super Nintendo when I went to school so that my parents wouldn’t see the light on the SNES and turn off the console.

I was in college, racking up a ton of debt while realizing each month that I was pursuing a degree I wasn’t cut out for. Inertia kept me going forward because at the time, hell even now, the “you need a college degree to get a good job” mantra was in full force. I knew I had nothing but failure lined up, even if I succeed in getting a degree which caused me to start with a bit of underage drinking. Things progressed rapidly from there I knew I was really going to end up in trouble or dead. Ogre Battle 64 was released and it gave me a reason to stay in and out of trouble on those Friday and Saturday nights. I realized I needed to change my life seriously and leave where I was, so I moved back home feeling like a failure. I had OB64 still, but then I beat the game and got the ending where it doesn’t end well for Magnus. It crushed me, I thought I was doing everything right! So, for the next few weeks, I would find myself constantly thinking about this game where I ended up being no better than the power I was rebelling against. I projected those thoughts onto my own life, and realized that I was just on the completely wrong track still. Everything I was doing was wrong, so I re-examined my life, did some soul searching and chose a different path.

At one point, Knight of Lodis was the one stabilizing factor in my life. I was struggling with transition to civilian life, constantly bombarded with dark thoughts, and honestly unsure how to even go on. Knight of Lodis was there. I would play it and fall asleep, only to wake up and have to replay a stage when my Gameboy ran out of batteries. The game became my emotional security blanket, and do this date, I’m not entirely sure why. The story is quite dark, the “best” ending is one where the hero is never heard from again, while the canon ending is the one where the main character loses the one thing most dear to him, and goes on to commit unspeakable atrocities for reasons not entirely known.

This was not supposed to be a game that gives you something to cling to, (obviously there’s another title that even tells us you should cling to it :getin: ) but there was something about seeing a confident person doubt themselves and their purpose that really comforted me. I was obviously no Lanselot Tartaros, but I could definitely understand the emotional rut and moral quandaries that Lans found himself in. I obviously wasn’t going to beat a fallen angel to death with my best bros, but I did want to see how Tartaros… ahem- Alphonse would pull off this impossible task.

Every night, Knight of Lodis was there for literally months until I fell asleep, because it kept the bad thoughts at bay. Micromanaging an army down to every weapon, managing alignment, keeping track of kills, and hoping for equipment drops kept me sane. Your mind can’t wonder when it’s occupied. Eventually, once I got past that point in my life, I didn’t need Knight of Lodis as a distraction, but it remained almost an emotional security blanket.

Flash forwards a few years, I read a review from a well-known video game reviewer who gave the PSP remake a perfect score. I had never actually beat the original version of Tactics Ogre at the time, I got as far Briganti’s castle in chapter 3, but other games ended up taking my attention from the original version. I enjoyed it, but I just figured it was a game I would never finish. I had wanted a PSP for a long time, so I pulled the trigger and bought a PSP and the remake. I dabbled but nothing serious for a few months. Then the person most dear to me at that time, left my life in a way that utterly broke me.

I’ll never forget that day laying in a sparse bedroom, starting at the ceiling. I got up and needed something to take my mind off of everything, and I went looking for one of my favorite books. I found my PSP in a drawer. I couldn’t find the book, so I figured the PSP would be good enough. I grabbed the charger and went back to lay down. The now familiar opening fanfare cut through the deafening silence of my apartment, and I realized, that once again this series would be my comfort through yet another trying time. Tactics Ogre, this massive, completely unwieldy game with a stupidly obtuse end game content became the perfect crutch for months. There was always something else to do, something else to learn, a crapton of rare items to try to collect, and most importantly, fun enough to eat up all of my time. If there’s always something to keep your eyes on, then you can’t see the monsters just barely being held at bay.

It’s entirely possible that if not Ogre Battle Saga, then *something* else would have been there to fill the void. Yet, I’m not naïve enough to think that would have been a complete certainty. This series will always have a place in my heart until the day I die.

One thing that I feel Tactics Ogre does miles better than other games, is convey and explore extremely complex emotions. Catiua’s death scene pierced right through me. It’s just a multitude of small things, the sprite movements, the hesitation, the utter look of anguish on Denam’s character portrait – those things could only come from someone who at some point had felt that perfect mix of helplessness, denial, and despair.

If you’ve made it this far, you may have noticed that the update – For Those Who Went the Distance was easily my most emotional and what I think was the best update I wrote for this whole shebang. I watched several of my friends take the journey into self-despair the same way Azlestan did. I watched as they threw their lives away the whole while giving me the same warnings of what not to do. “Don’t throw your life away,” as I watched them wrack up DUIs, get into constant fights, and end the night in tears as they lost the ability to hide their pain. Yet I was no Denam, I couldn’t find a good enough reason to get them to come out of their spiral. Not all of them have made it this far, they couldn’t continue the fight.

While I was lucky enough to not have any of my friends be killed in action while deployed to Iraq, not all of them were so lucky to navigate living a “normal” life again. Seeing the scene in the Pirate’s Graveyard where the treasure is just a remembrance of those who have fallen, was just a brutal scene for me to work through. The ones you care about are the real treasure, and anything to place out there to honor their memory is a priceless treasure. A set of boots, an old shirt, a half drank bottle of their favorite booze, the smell of a shared experience – those sentimental items are the means by which they obtain immortality or at least a temporary sense of life after death. At least until even those who know what those items mean fade out of existence.

There are so many of those little scenes in this game, where you don’t quite understand how well the scenes are written until you’ve experienced great loss. This is why I insisted on finishing this thing out. Ogre Battle, well more specifically the Tactics Ogre entries, represent the best and worst of what we all have in us. There are so many different emotions that are represented in these games if you are paying attention to them. The ogres are monsters of myth until all of a sudden, they aren’t and they become you.

While life experiences and having small children definitely didn’t help the speed of this post game LP, they don’t represent the entirety of why it all took so long. Truthfully, I’ve been dreading this update because I have been dreading the end of this. As long as these last two or three updates were unwritten, talking about Tactics Ogre wouldn’t be over. I am both incredibly happy to have been able to share the post-game with you all, because I absolutely adore it, but I’m also incredibly sad that this has to end.

If that isn’t the best representation of the final image, then I don’t know what is. The Ogre Battle Saga will continue…, seems incredibly cruel since it’s been 11-12 years as of the time, I’m writing the final update without any news on a new game. But who am I to complain about someone taking too long.

I WAITED SO LONG THAT WE ACTUALLY HAD A REMAKE!!!! THE SAGA DOES CONTINUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I just stumbled across the most amazing Tactics Ogre art from some Japanese person on Twitter.
