It can get ludicrously grindy on certain things and the majority of the classes just felt samey to me. I wouldn't be surprised for people to get bored or turned off, though I pushed through and had plenty of fun, though I still have two gripes. One we won't see for a while and the other is THAT GODDAMNED POT.

Canopus with a 2h crossbow will carry you through pretty much the entire game. It's a tiny bit silly how good archers are in this game, and Canopus has great stats and flight to go with it.

Naked Canopus should work, the enemies should prioritize him and if you don't take any actions his next turn should come around super fast. Fun fact: this is one of the easier escort missions.
