I posit that the pallbearer meme has the same issue with the To Be Continued meme, where as the meme becomes more commonplace it atrophies in its efficacy exponentially. Soon, any animated image that features peril will predictably have it featured, turning the last 5 seconds into a punchline that you have already told yourself before you've even seen it Instead you are denied the arguably funnier payoff of the original animation and your expectations have not been subverted, for you have already guessed the ending. The "Wasted" meme avoided this by still allowing you to see the end result of the animation while the punchline was layered over it. So no word of a lie this has solved a 20 year old mystery for me See way back when I was a little kid I came across a sweet rear end jpg of a symbol that just really resonated with me, I thought it was the coolest poo poo ever but for the life of me I couldn't figure out what it was from or what it meant. What language was it from? Was it some sort of musical notation or just a cool pattern someone dreamt up? It didn't matter, 'cause I swooped in and used that poo poo as my forums avatar across several communities. Thanks to the SA Avatar History page I can reveal it looked like this:  Until today I have never figured out where it came from or what it meant until I saw this goddamn dumbass meme I thought it was the most badass thing in the world I had it printed and stuck to things I'm listening to them on Spotify now and I feel loving ashamed I am burying this part of my past tonight with a sad, sad feeling of utter abhorrence
