Keatts is official at NC State. Seems awful quick but then I guess they've been working on this in the background for more than a month now. Pretty young still, lots of connections in the region and beyond, has a reputation as an elite recruiter. Think it's a pretty good hire, all told. Definitely beats the hell out of the last couple searches.
UNCW kenpom rating the four years before Keatts got there (coached by a dude who had a cup of coffee as a power 5 HC):
203
238
287
280

Keatts' three years, kenpom rating:
174
85
57

Pretty darn impressive.

Gregggg Marshall, Archie Miller, and Chris Mack are probably the dream candidates, but are all probably going to be too expensive and/or not willing to leave.

Just right: Bryce Drew, Valpo

Low-budget option: Brad Underwood, Stephen F. Austin

Is there any reason the schools with the assistants accepting bribes to guide current players to certain advisers would experience much blowback as far as NCAA sanctions? These guys were acting outside the interests of the school and the team and just exploiting their players for personal gain. The school gains no tangible benefit from it; it's effectively the same as if an assistant had been embezzling money from the team. He's fired, and he's going to jail, but if that's the extent of it I don't see why Auburn, OkSt, Arizona, etc. have anything to worry about other than the black eye.
Well, Lamont Evans, thought he charges relate to the agent thing, was also recorded saying that he was providing money to current players, and was also asking for money to pay a recruit.

Though it's possible he was full of poo poo.

That's the only one I've read somewhat carefully due to my Underwood interest.

Yeah, that isn't cheating. If you are willing to devote one of your three full assistant slots to a kid's dad, go ahead.

The other thing (and I think SMU just did this with a kid), is that the restriction on hiring someone close to a kid to a non-assistant role is imposed at the start of the player's junior year, so you can "legally" hire someone to a bullshit role if you are willing to risk that on a commitment from a sophomore.
