the sound effect work for this movie was unreal. im surprised nobody had the bright idea to sync up gunfire to the soundtrack like wright did, since the result was bloody amazing

oh my god the use of hocus pocus by focus for the chase/shoot out was goddamn perfect

this was the peak of the movie by a long shot. i honestly wanted the movie to just drop the plot at the point and switch to a blues brothers style insane city-long chase, but i guess jon hamm wasn't having any of that :sigh:

It didn't make sense. All of a sudden Spacey is his friend? After threatening him and whatnot? Sacrificing his life? Uh...no. That made no sense. Plus the other guy being hell bent on killing him? It was almost like a 3rd act from a different film.

spacey knew that baby was hanging out with a girl, but doing something as colossally stupid as bringing her to his crime boss secret hideout sorta wrapped around the irritation scale and landed back at romantic. it was the end of the line for him anyway, or at least his business, so it was probably just a quick decision that a proper blaze of glory would involve helping them escape rather than killing them

question: when baby has to jack a car and starts flipping through the radio to find a song he recognizes, were all the songs he passes over the death songs that jamie foxx's old partner was paranoid about? the snippets were a bit too short for me to tell in theater.

huge missed opportunity, if not

i like the world's end a lot, which bums me out since unlike shaun of the dead and hot fuzz it doesn't ever seem to be available on any of the big streaming services

it's factually true that longer cuts look better, but there's a budget limit and a time limit to what directors can do to get them. it's a bit ironic that the foot scenes in baby driver were all way better than the car scenes (i dont think anyone can deny that hocus pocus was the peak of the movie, unless they're countering with tequila, which was also on foot), but i can forgive that since 1) edgar wright isn't that experienced with car films to begin with, 2) his directorial style overall is still really good, and 3) this movie is also really good

Spacey had a line about never using the same person twice on a crew except for Baby when he was strong arming him into being a driver again. But then he immediately goes and gets people he's already used for the post office robbery, so... I'm confused. Also I couldn't stop staring at Spacey's awful dye job when he was on screen. I hope it was intentional.

Think I'm in the good but not great camp. Fun in the beginning but got messy at the end. I'm a fan of Jon Hamm but was pretty underwhelmed here. Jamie Foxx stole the show. And I know this is a real loving low bar, but it's always nice to see a Theater Movie that's a fresh and closed story instead of being a remake, sequel, or setting up/continuing an extended universe.

he never uses the same entire crew. recycling individual members is fine in his book
